Just got back from a winter backpacking trip with this in the snow. This thing rocks. First off, it's huge. It's a big tent. The pictures I've seen don't do it justice. It's luxuriously big. Second, it packs up real small for its size. Third, it provides way better wind protection than a standard fly because you have sides, which are super underrated. For cons, the sack it comes with is kinda cheap and isn't really a stuff sack. I didn't use it. I was able to just cram the whole thing into my 35l backpack with my sleeping bag into whatever space it fit in. The cordage and stakes it comes with are basically junk too. I just used loads of paracord and my own stakes. As others have said, run a guideline, don't just use the little tabs it comes with. Also the snap buttons for the door seem real fragile. I'm sure you could figure out a fix for this, I was just gentle. In short, I'm really pleased with this, but this has it's place. You could get away with an ultralight fly that's way smaller if that's a priority. It's cheaply made, but it's design is kinda unique and it works really well considering its price point. I like it. It's going to see lots of use from me.

I do not rate any products until I have actually used the product in the field, and in this case pending a reply from the manufacturer, I can only give it two stars. The concept is wonderful, the engineering moderate, and the quality is poor. Upon setting up the fly the top loop began to pull away from the cloth and I did immediately swap out the lines with reflective cord, since I am normally camping with our local scout troop and want to make sure the boys can see my lines. But, as mentioned by other reviewers, it is not paracord. The snaps may seem cool at first, but given that they are on thin nylon, when you unsnap the side, the snaps begin to cut the cloth they are attached to and after having been exposed to a weekend of rain already show some signs of rust. I used the provided stakes only for staking the lower portion of the fly and used more substantial stakes for the lines, to hold it out. On the plus side, we camped out on Oct. 14, 2017, which set a record for rainfall on that day in the location where we were camping. Many of my fellow campers were soaked, but I can tell you that the fly kept me and my hammock dry the whole time, and that was with crazy heavy rain and wind that collapsed some of my fellow camper's tents. With some better quality manufacture and some minor changes to the overall design, they would have a winner. Even if I don't get a satisfactory reply from the manufacturer, I will be keeping this fly, I will just have to get my sewing machine out and make a few alterations. The net result is that I cannot recommend purchasing this fly, although you will get many visitors coming to inquire about it. I told my fellow campers that I would let them know after I had used it. I will provide an update after getting a reply from the supplier. Update- After multiple uses, and a conversation with the manufacturer, I have bumped this up to 3 stars. The quality is still not the best, but it has now survived two torrential rains and two bouts of heavy wind. After the initial use, I have and would recommend running an additional ridge line just for the fly to reduce the stress on the tie outs. During this last use early in November, the temps dropped into the 30's and I used only the snugpak cocoon insulation and was plenty warm since the wind could not get to me. And again I stayed dry without any additional issue. I have also included a couple of more photos, to provide some indication of what it looks like with the hammock inside. 02/26/2018 - Additional follow up - After additional use of this fly over the fall and this winter, i have bumped my rating to a 4. If and only if, you use this fly with a supporting ridge line, as you would for any large rain fly, it works well. We did a camp out with the scouts in January in Northwest Indiana, it was a cool weekend with snow and lots of wind. The fly did keep out the blowing snow (except some small spots where the lines went through and I did stay warm, and it was nice to be able to change clothes without the cold wind blowing on me. The only down side was that keeping it closed up did keep in a bit too much of my condensation, so there was a nice layer of frost on the inside of the fly. If it weren't blowing and snowing, I would have left the ends open to let the moisture out. At this point, i would recommend purchasing this, with the caveat that you must use a center line to support it and not rely on the provided tabs to support it alone.

Had 20+ mph gusts, and I had to go to longer stakes to keep it anchored to the ground, but it didn't rip and it did its job in below freezing temperatures. The little clamps came in handy to keep it off of my hammock on the windy side.

This is an outstanding rain fly. I've been hammock camping for over seven years, and I've used a few different rain flies, but this one has it all. I've done rainy overnights twice since getting this, and even wind driven rain didn't get to me. It also provides much more privacy while changing than other solutions. I had some concern about ripping at the hanging loops or at the snaps, but it looks like they'll be fine. I would highly recommend this as a low-cost, highly effective solution to privacy and protection when hammock camping. OK. So I loved this product, but after 16 months I need to downgrade my evaluation. First, the snaps started to rust and that made it difficult to open and close. Fortunately I didn't get any rips near the snaps, but it was close to ripping a few times. I used a great method to support this thing. I ran a rope from tree to tree, with a pair of carabineers holding the loops to the rope. This took almost all of the pressure off of the loops. But last weekend, we had 35 mile-an-hour winds, and one of the loops tore off. After using it for approximately 50 nights, I will either try sewing the loop back on (and add some stitches to the surviving loop), or I'll scrap it. Too bad, too, because of all the methods I've used to add cover to my hammock, this was the best...

I am a woman hammock camper (own several Clark Jungle hammock tent) and my hammock has a fly but when it rains or you need privacy for quick clothes change , this Advanced rain fly is the ticket ! It is an extra added option without much extra weight or inconvenience with set up. It can be set up directly over hammock for extra protection or offset on either end to provide a sitting area in inclement weather. It uses a tarp- like light weight and packable which allows the price to be reasonable - but I’d keep the tent style- maybe a little wider and use a higher quality light semi cloth material that still provided waterproof protection. A material like your high end tents and hammock would be nice. The end flaps are Velcro closures - and a zipper might be better( on the fence with that but maybe as an option because I would have purchased one of each) .I’d even like to see different colors . This light gray is nice standard color but I’d like a darker gray , brown,forest green , camo and even blue ( girl thing to match my colors with the Clark Jumgle hammocks which are pretty standard colors ) Anyway , nice addition to your camp set up whether you use ground or hammock tent. I have a very light weight and packable cot (Helinox) and this works nice with this cover too!

I had a time setting it up and needed to modify it to work for me. Great price and solution for hammock camping in style. Got hot as heck under the sun though. I needed more shade tarping for it. NOT easy to to install for me. Once it was up though it functioned great. Really light weight especially for it's size. Seems durable enough though I'm not sure yet.

Ordered my tarp finally receive the stake and rope package today that was not in the original order this is an absolute joke the cords won't even hold up a 2 lb 10 3 lb tent this is the cheapest most ferociously it's an expensive it's cheap and yet you pay 55 bucks for it doesn't take anything to use paracord versus cheap rope that won't hold up in a rain and wind storm not tried the water hose today it wouldn't even shed water

Avid Hammock camper here and was looking for a winter shelter that would block the wind. As Hammock campers know just having a tarp is a very cold experience changing clothes in sub zero weather. Having a real tent completely blocks wind and that's a game changer in winter. That said this Oak Creek shelter had promise by it's doors and side pullouts. Very much like the boy scout canvas group tents of old. One could shovel snow onto the bottom perimeter so that would block the wind and in combination with the doors be pretty good. Not tent standard but close. Got the product quickly even during the Covid lockdown. Set up and noticed what others have said . You need to put a guyline thru the Apex of the tent and somehow attach tie outs to that. The vertical pitch of the side guyouts are dependent on the height of the Apex . With a low pitch the sides won't fully extend. After setup we had 2 inches heavy wet snow which collapsed the sides. Proper staking or tree tie outs help there. Was re adusting the bottom stakes then popped two snaps which ripped right out of the flimsy door fabric. To fix this put some elastic cord and attach to the grommets on the bottom of each door and connect to the opposite corner of base . To be clear left door attaches to bottom right corner grommet and right door to left lower corner grommet . Material appears to be like the rubberized rain gear of old. Heavy main body and light flimsy doors. Snaps rusted the first day.Hey you get what you pay for it's as simple as that. Stakes are useless. Aluminum Shepard hooks or snow anchors save the day there. Another thing I did was to attach two pullouts on each side. This helps when you have heavy wet snow or rain by keeping the sides fully extended. Another thing they could have done to make it more user friendly. I'm on the fence about recommending this product . It's waterproof yes and has a good design but the execution is terrible. Snaps need to be stainless and reinforced with patches behind them,added side pullouts. Reinforced lager tie outs on the Apex ,better stakes. Tie outs and Ridgeline need reflective material , stronger door material. I would be willing to pay about 100 dollars for all those upgrades. The concept is good but please upgrade the product. Hope this helps

very lightweight and easy to put up, used a ridgeline rather than tying to the loops as other reviews suggested, slept in it all night no issues and even had space under the hammock for all my gear and cooked breakfast inside it. It is very thin though and could be very easily ripped if you are not carefull

This is good I was surprised to be fair keeps out wind and rain and gives you space to keep your gear surprisingly spacious

Covered my hammock well, the side walls extend the space nicely. Snaps on front, rear and corners. Some snaps were slightly misaligned but I will add some velcro to small openings. Tried it in 2°C with hammock tent (Haven style) small burner worked great to warm tent quickly for a few minutes getting up and ready. Moderate winds, hardly moved! Getting another for my other hammock tent! Worth the money! Note- I also have another ultralight tarp over this fly.

Super easy setup. I'm going to be using it as a shelter for my canoe trip. It's the right size for a couple people to sit under and play cards whilst it's raining.
