The only thing that works to grow and keep my hair
I had thyroid cancer some years ago when I was 27yo, had surgery and went through radiation treatment, and minoxidil 5% has been the only thing that has ever worked to keep hair on my scalp since then. I have tried everything known to men (and women) and nothing else works for me. There are some pretty expensive brands out there for this and I also tried them all. I'm really happy that Amazon now has their own minoxidil 5% because it's much better price and it is better than the big brands. Whenever you start using it, it will make your hair fall like crazy. That is normal and it goes for a month or two. It's making space for new hair to come in. You do have to keep using it for as long as you want to have good hair.

Successful beard story
It's been many years since I used this for my beard, but it worked. I used this back in 2018, I was in my mid-20's and I could only grow a goatee and mustache, and had some scarce hairs in my cheeks and that was it. Back then, the first generations of minox beard youtubers were coming out with their testimonies and day-to-day progress videos. I watched those videos for a couple of months before finally taking the decision to embark on the same journey myself. I didn't want to grow a Gandalf beard or anything like that, I just wanted a full beard and be able to sport a short beard or a stubble beard, which is exactly what I do now! It's a work of patience and discipline, though. I applied it twice a day, as instructed by the box, every 12 hours, and never skipped a single day. The progress is very slow and very gradual. After 2-3 months, I hadn't noticed anything yet, but people around me started noticing the difference. Back then, using minox for beard wasn't such a widespread "trick", so the comments I started to hear from people around me were like "oh, so you're trying a beard now, nice!", i.e. they thought I used to fully shave before (which I did cause I didn't like how I looked, but obviously only shaved what little I could grow) and now I was trying a new look. Still, I wasn't fully convinced of my progress, it wasn't until 6 months in when I finally started to notice a drastic enough difference to feel like it was working.Following recommendations from youtubers and online forums, I ended up purchasing a couple more 6-month supplies (from different brands, I would purchase the one that I found cheaper, and it made absolutely no difference) and continued the process for a whole year, never skipping a single day. By the end of year 1, I could already grow a full beard. I started to take it easy for the second year, instead of using it twice a day I went down to only once, and the last 3 bottles I started using every other day, and then every few days, as to not just completely stop using it abruptly. Now it's been more than 4 years since the last time I used it, and my beard is still going the same as back then, it really does seem the results on beard are permanent.

Hair growth product that needs sometime to work
Don't really know how great this product works. Used it for a couple months and temporarily discontinued. Going to start using again. Supposedly comment takes like 6 months to really work. So to be fair, it was not given that time frame for success. You have to be careful not to use too much. That is for health reasons. But, think it's going to go in a spray bottle and that way just a couple spritz should be enough. Instead of trying to spread it around with a brush. There is also a foam version that looks like it might work or apply in an easier way. His recommended one to two times per day, but some say that doing it at night is not the best, because it will just get rubbed off on the pillow. Also, if you're looking for regrowth of hair, you can talk to your doctor about prescribing "Finasteride". If you're not familiar with Finasteride, look it up. Many men use it in combination with this product..... 🤔

Miracle in a bottle - but not for everyone (stats below)
Thrilled to say it's working great for me! Will it work for you? Statistically speaking - Probably. (But a lot more hair might fall out at first - don't panic! It's a good thing.) And if you want to make some babies in the near future, use this, not finasteride (more on that later).I did a lot of reading. One study of about 1,000 men had some solid stats. About 62% percent of men using 5% minoxidil (same as Rogaine) reported a reduction in hair loss. Regarding hair regrowth, 16% rated it “very effective,” 48% rated it “effective,” 20% rated it “moderately effective,” and 16% rated it "ineffective.” Based on that, there's a good likelihood you'll get some benefit from using this as directed (1 ml, applied twice daily). At first, you might wonder how there's a reported reduction in hair loss of only 62%, but a much higher reporting of hair regrowth by 84% of participants. They're two separate issues. You could still keep losing hair, while also experiencing hair regrowth. Seeing bald patches disappear is different from seeing hair that's fallen out during regular washing, if that makes sense. From my personal experience, I both have less hair loss, and more hair growth in the "very effective" range. But as is common with a lot of people, for about a three week period when I first started using this product, I had a LOT more hair loss than I had previously. That's common. It has to do with the cycles of hair follicles. Seeing the old, weak hair falling out is a good sign that the stuff is working. You just have to ride it out. Surprisingly, the bald patch I was developing did not appear any larger or any thinner when I was in that phase. Please note - I'm 49, and that matters. Based on my reading, minoxidil is most effective in men 40 or younger. I'm happy to have it work as well as it has for me. I also wasn't totally bald, but getting really thin up top (see the pics). Minoxidil is most effective for men who have male pattern baldness that runs in the family. That's basically just guys in the fam slowly going bald as they get older. Most people with bald spots fit that category. While this review is mainly geared toward guys, I'll briefly address women interested in minoxidil. From a study I read, "19% of women ages 18 to 45 using Rogaine for eight months reported moderate hair regrowth, while 40% had minimal growth (compared to 7% and 33% for placebo, respectively)." Women don't need this 5% liquid formula. They tend to find either 2% liquid, or 5% foam the most effective. Some places plug using minoxidil in combination with finasteride, a tablet medication. Some people just use finasteride, and it's pretty effective alone or in combination with minoxidil. But BEWARE. If you want to make a baby anytime soon, stick just with minoxidil. Finasteride, even in low doses, can reduce sperm count. I've also read that pregnant women should not come in contact with finasteride, as it can effect the formation of the fetus. Yikes! So there are a few big, red flags against finasteride. Finally, this is the best price I found for 5% minoxidil anywhere, 6 bottles (6 months) for $32. At $64 per year it'll still be cheaper than a hair transplant that costs (many) thousands of dollars. I will probably eventually switch to using it just once per day. If I retain what I've grown, then my annual cost will only be $32.Couldn't be happier with this product.
