I dug up some natural clay from our summer cottage on a small island in Casco Bay and mixed it with some store night clay for turning. So my wife and I tried our best to make some pots. I have very little throwing experience, and my wife had none, so it was just a fun little activity to celebrate our years together. I built a fire, we made some pots, and we dried them next to the coals. I wanted to have glaze be an option for the final baking stage, so I grabbed this because of the color. Granted the coals for the final bake didn't quite get hot enough to create the ideal conditions for glazing, but it sort of worked in some spots. So we now have 1 pot that didn't explode (we should have let the pots all dry a lot more between stages), half of another, and the side of a third. The pot and the side piece (hey oh) did fully glaze in the spots that didn't break off when moisture met heat, and it looks lovely. Recommended for people who know how important it is to wait for clay to dry before covering it with hot coals ... Or for people who are ok with a disaster because it's just being used for a fun anniversary activity. If we attempt it again after doing a bit more research on campfire pottery, we'll definitely get more of their glazes. Would recommend. Review: Orange glaze seems good pre-firing. - I waited a long time for this product as it was held up at customs for being a food item, apparently because it has the name 'orange'! This is not the fault of the seller, however it might be helpful to include the safety sheet or other product info on or in the packaging when posting overseas, to add clarity for customs, especially as they did not appear to accept my submitted explanations twice over! The product arrived in a tampered condition, which was not a surprise given the delay, however that is again not the fault of the seller. It had not leaked in shipment and thankfully was still useable. It stirred up well without lumps, and painted onto bisqueware smoothly.
