The reason I bought it was that I had an extra mount that came with my Garmin GPS. I did a little research and found that the Garmin has a 17mm ball, and that is precisely what the iBolt requires. This is my first phone mount.The phone mount arrived a day late, but that wasn't the seller's fault. It was well boxed and came in an OEM plastic cover. It did not come with instructions or any paperwork, but that was as expected since it is a "part" and not the full system. Instructions aren't necessary, though.It pops right on the 17mm ball and holds snugly. I had no problem putting it on either of my two mount balls. Off to pizza hut drive through with a movie playing. I drive a land rover discovery and it is basically a nice Jeep. It bounces, it rattles... The phone never moved.A couple of things may not be obvious from the description and picture. First, this unit is very well built. It is heavier than it looks and for instance, the extending arm on the top has metal arms. The bottom arms extend. The top arm makes room for different size devices so it does have a spring. This means that putting the device in and taking it out requires two hands. It is doable. The back of the mount has a channel for your charging cable. It appears that it will route, but not hold, the cable. This unit doesn't come with a cable.The ibolt clearly holds a Note 3. It also holds my Note 3 with Otterbox Defender and, surprisingly my Note 3 with a huge ZeroLemon battery and case. The latter is the outer limit of thickness that the ibolt will hold.I like!My sole reason for no fifth star is that placing the phone in and taking it out is a two handed affair. I had hoped that the top piece was more permanently adjustable. Having said that without the spring of probably wouldn't grip my phone so tightly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of my best investments! *by T***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2015* So this is my second. This first was purchased back in March of 2013, and two years, many devices and much abuse later, it finally gave out. I have to say I was very impressed with the way it held out. It was stretched to the limits when I shoved a Galaxy Note2, Otterbox and all, in there but this little guy definitely gave me a good run. I loved the fact that the power connections were held in the back and that I could easily rotate the holder 180 degrees if my phone's power was on the opposite end, which ended up being the case with my current phone. It proved to be a very versatile dock in many ways when it came to my fiancé driving my car and using it, or using it for my son's phone or my BFF's or whoever the heck's phone needed juice at the time.This is one of those products that is every bit worth what you pay for it. It's easy to install, holds up well, isn't made from that flimsy cheap plastic (you know the kind I mean) and if you can get any docking station, mount or any similar device to withstand over 600 days of nearly daily abuse, then I'd definitely say you've gotten your money's worth out of it. What finally ended up giving out was the side with the single arm. That extending piece that rests against your device is what broke in half. And I'm not surprised since that is the one piece that is pulled on every time it's used. Can't say I'm surprised it finally gave out. Not surprised, I ordered another one either regardless. Love this thing! ;) ### ⭐⭐⭐ Lacks durability *by J***X on Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2019* The original lasted about three years. I noticed it was getting loose where the cradle connects to the stem, but I didn't figure out exactly what was going on at the time. Ultimately the clamp part at the top came off when the pins worked their way out. This one started getting loose in the same way, but after only a couple of weeks, not years this time. There is an o-ring at the back of the socket that broke loose. I was able to just set it back in, but nothing permanent.
