OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener with Basepad, Black, One Size

Simply the easiest jar/bottle opening tool I've ever used. My age-ravaged hands now struggle with jars, bottles etc. basically anything that you need to grip and twist was practically useless to me unless someone else was around to open it for me. That's all changed now due to the clever design. I just put the tool on top of the item to open, twist the handle and it automatically adjusts the grips to the correct size, then opens it. Doddle. I've had it for over a year and it's still working great so I'd say it's pretty good value considering the trouble it's saved me. It's mostly plastic with a soft plastic handle and what appear to be stainless steel grips (at least, there's no rust on the grips in over a year). It doesn't really get dirty so a quick wipe with a damp cloth is enough to clean it. I recommend. Opens tops approximately 30mm up to 95mm.

I've used OXO Goodgrips before. I already had a jar lid opener but I found it clumsy to use. I have weak wrists and even with the standard ones you need to twist to assist to get the lid off. Not with this one. It's innovative! Firstly, the little silicone mat it comes with to place the jar on is genious. It keeps the jar steady while using the main twister. The twister is brilliant. I've used it for all jar lid sizes so far it works on all of them. It does all the work. You twist it but the main force is applied for the gadget so it's comfortable to use. I've not seen one like this before and it's a game-changer for the best in our kitchen. It's good value for money. I would purchase it for a friend or family member.

I dropped a star for it feeling awkward on smaller tops, like condiment bottles. But yeah, total game changer for me in the kitchen. As the arthritis seems to be kicking in with my fingers, I thought a little 'muscle' in the jar opening department was in order. Glad I bought this. Fit's nearly all sizes in the kitchen, just twist the big handle to close the 'jaws' and keep turning, and POOF! Like magic the lids come off. It's a chunky, solid bit of kit that seems like it will last and is easy to use. The rubber cover just came off, but it's in a drawer anyway. I recommend if you are having problems with jar opening. Easily worth the money.

Over the years I've bought and used many different devices to help me open jars and each has had its good points but, for some reason, I hesitated to buy one of these. Now I have bought this and it is MAGNIFICENT! The cover is also a mat to stop the jar slipping on the table/counter top anf the handle is comfortable. The more the jar lid resists the tighter this grips. If only I had bought this sooner!

If you struggle then this could be a great purchase. It has resolved all our opening issues - a pity they can’t resolve the knee ones so easily.

This works well and does easier to open most jars - however you still need to grip the jar with one hand and turn with the other, so you still have to have a fairly strong wrist to turn it. If you suffer with weak hands you might need to think again.

Very good product/tool to open any container lid.

Fantastic! Finally a safe, easy to use bottle opener that actually works. A godsend for those of us with arthritis or weak wrists. It doesn’t slip off the pad and accidentally injure you and takes little or no pressure to twist the top off. Thank you whoever designed it.
