It is used to connect usb-c to RS-232 converter to realize data transmission between computer and RS-232 device. It is applicable to all devices with console port. It requires that the USB type of computer is USB type C interface. The usb-c is connected to the usb-c interface of the computer, and the RJ45 port is connected to the console port on the device. The OIKWAN USB-C to RJ45 Console Cable connects from a computer USB-C port to the RJ45 console port of a networking switch or router. This rollover cable connects a laptop with Windows, Linux or macOS to a Cisco-standard serial console port for configuration and management. FTDI drivers are available for download. Review: Great Console Cable - I purchased "OIKWAN USB-C Cisco Console Cable, 6ft USB Type C to RJ45 Serial Adapter Essential Accessory of Cisco, NETGEAR, Ubiquity, LINKSYS, TP-Link Routers/Switches for Laptops" for £12.99 in the USB-C 1.8m option. Functionality This console cable does exactly what its meant to. A lot of modern laptops don't come with anything but USB C anymore, so getting a console cable that's USB C means I don't have to faff around with adapters anymore when I'm in a pinch. Compatibility I can confirm this is compatible on W10 and W11. All you need to do is install the correct driver; I've used the VPC driver from ftdichip (dot) com for years. The driver works on Windows and MAC so this product will too! Quality The product is durable and both ends have survived being stuffed into ports and rammed into bags with no issue. Connectivity This console cable will work with any device that has an RJ-45 style console port. I've used it on Cisco, Juniper and Palo Alto kit to name a few. Speed This console cable will work at whatever speed the connecting devices supported baud rate is. Ease of Installation This product needs a FTDI driver that does not come with the product. I have used the VPC driver from ftdichip (dot) com for years. Any idea why?** A: Sorry for the obvious answer, did you check what Junipers required console settings are? Cisco is typically 9600,8,None,1 **Q: Hello - is the RJ45 end the same as an ethernet cable?** A: The standard UTP (unshielded twisted pair) Ethernet cable uses an RJ45 connector at both ends. While this cable does have an RJ45 connector on one end it is a RS232 serial communication cable not an Ethernet cable. It will not work if you connect it to an Ethernet interface on another device such as a switch or router. **Q: Does it work with mac os big sur?** A: Yes, it works. As long as your device has RJ45 console interface and your computer USB is usb-c port, it can work. If you need other help, please contact. **Q: Does this work for connecting my cell phone to a land line phone?** A: It does not. As it is not an RJ11(phone plug) it is an Ethernet plug(rj-45) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Console Cable *by R***A on 27 January 2026* I purchased "OIKWAN USB-C Cisco Console Cable, 6ft USB Type C to RJ45 Serial Adapter Essential Accessory of Cisco, NETGEAR, Ubiquity, LINKSYS, TP-Link Routers/Switches for Laptops" for £12.99 in the USB-C 1.8m option.
