Beautiful backpack! It’s structured and very sturdy. The hardware and handles and buckles are solid. You can tell by the construction and materials this backpack is made to last many years. The leather is beautiful real chrome tanned leather, it has that amazing leather smell to it. Very happy with the bag

Let me preface this by saying: i was an idiot. It took me few days to realize this bag comes with ONE strap. To wear like backpack, you weave the strap through the back. To wear it like a messenger bag, there is a separate set of clasps. And, if you're female, you can even wear it like a purse by looping it backpack-style them pulling the strap through the top to create a top loop. After the initial learning curve then I decided I didn't want to return d bag , I used plenty of leather honey to help loosen the material up and capted water resistant. straight out of packaging, the bag feels a bit stiff and flimsy, but with some conditioning and about a weeks used , it passes for being much more expensive then it actually is. There r several inside pockets , including zipper pocket, as well as four outer pockets visible in the pictures of amazon. When I first put a standard sized binder in the bag , the binder seemed like it wouldn't fit in d main compartment but with some breaking in , the bag is much roomier the it first looked . All of the fasteners on the bag are buckles, not snaps like you see on some purses/backpacks/messenger bags. For me, this is actually better than a snap because it keeps the pouches securely closed. After a few times, it becomes muscle memory to open and close the pockets quickly. If you need a graduation present, Father's day present, 'sorry for running over your cat because it was in the middle of the street' present, or.. well, you know, any gift, this is something pretty much any guy would love. Unless they are vegan, because yes, the leather is real. This bag is love. This bag is life. I can recommend it enough.

if you're going to go off of photos for this product, make sure that you look at the photos with a white background where the bag is not being modeled. The bag being modeled is not the bag you will receive. As seen in the photos, which I did not look close enough at, you can see that the bag that you will receive is true leather, but has been treated or quoted with something so that the bag is all one color instead of showing the natural leather coloring in the photo of the bags being modeled. There are wrinkles and weird textures on the bag that make it look really weird, and there was a scuff on the tip of the front flap of my bag. The photos I have included with this review are after washing the bag with saddle soap and conditioning the entirety of the bag with leather conditioner. Do you keep in mind that for $70? This leather bag is insanely cheap. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for something with true quality and really quality materials, you should always buy in person to see the quality or trust smaller businesses on Etsy wear bags may be crafted by leather crafters and are more expensive because they are higher quality. I rated this a four out of five instead of a three out of five is just because I realize my own error in not looking at the photos close enough. The buckles that the bag are made of are quite cheap material, which is unfortunate but again you get what you pay for. overall, for the price the bag is nice quality and is large enough to fit everything. When it comes, it will be stiff and small, I read review on here saying that they weren't able to fit anything inside the pockets, you need to know for leather goods they need to be conditioned and stuffed with paper or fabric whatever you can to open up the bag and help it hold its shape. That's what I've had to do with mine as it did come quite stiff and small. The bag does come with a piece of paper from the business owner stating that if we do have any issues with the bag to reach out before leaving review so that they can try and remedy it as much as possible. I did not reach out to the owner because at the end of the day I don't wanna waste energy in time possibly returning the bag or receiving a new bag and then having to. I'll just deal with my choices and use this bag hopefully it lasts quite a long time, but again you get what you pay for.

Update 11-November-2016: I received the replacement bag Monday of this week (it is now Friday). The replacement seems to be built a bit better than the first one and has not started to fall apart and, in fact, seems like it's probably going to hold up well for some time as long as I don't use it roughly. One of the buckles that holds the shoulder strap in backpack mode doesn't really work, but that's not a problem for me since I'm such a big person that wearing this as a true backpack is unreasonable and looks hilarious. Updating this review to 5 stars because, for ~$50, this bag is a good value for what it is. Update 01-November-2016: I am still awaiting the replacement, so I am unable to update on that at this time. However, sometime towards the end of last week the main strap started to separate from the main flap of the bag. I have added a new photo to reflect this change. I am leaving the review at 4-stars for the moment pending receipt of the replacement product. Update 26-October-2016: After contacting the vendor about the product defect they have agreed to send a replacement. I am updating this review to 4 stars because I do like the bag and the customer service is excellent. I will update my review again once I receive my replacement product. Original Review: Overall I'm a fan of the versatility of the bag. It looks good and the main compartment works great as a laptop bag for work and school. Unfortunately, after having the bag for 5 days and only using it for 2 of them (Monday & Tuesday), the stitching on one of the front pockets is already coming undone. All I've done is carry the bag to and from work and to school while storing an external hard drive in the pocket. I haven't cinched the strap down overly tight. The construction of this bag seems substandard. The bag is a little smaller than I was expecting, based solely on the picture, but that's not such a bad thing. I'm a big guy (6' 4" with a 52" chest) and the bag does not fit me when in backpack mode.

Great Bag..Always getting compliments

Years ago, after a grueling trek through a Peruvian valley, I mentally inventoried my house full of trekking man bags and backpacks. None of them quite filled the bill, either in looks or functionality. I came up with my dream backpack, solid leather, square-ish, room for everything and, above all, really cool looking on the trail or in an airport. Two must haves were a side holster for my Glock or Police Special, and a leather ammo band. Finally, years later, it turned up on the Internet. I bought the 19" version of this handmade 'vintage' backpack and eagerly awaited its arrival. There were already some negative reviews on Amazon...things uppermost in my mind as I open the package. Those negative reviews just did not ring true. The bag was highly compressed, wrapped in plastic - even every metal buckle had been individually wrapped. The leather was perfect, tough, but not took thick and stiff. No preservative gunk on the leather as one review said, carrying straps were thick and solid, not too thin as a another review said. The marketing says that the bag is hand stitched - but the sewing looks machine perfect. The leather is vegetable tanned - no need for waxes or special maintenance. It is going to wear beautifully. I stuffed to front and side pockets with paper for a few days to open the up and re-shape them, stuffed the inside compartments with books to re-shape them too. The result was the most manly back pack I have ever had - and the last one I will ever have. It maybe a bit much for the Mall...but now I look like a seasoned world traveller and explorer when I am on the trail or rushing to my gate at Atlanta airport bound for the City of the Monkey God.I have only one complaint - no holster or ammo rack. Probably a good thing. This bag is everything the advertising claims and more. If it didn't raise eyebrows I would wear it while watching Josh Gates, I like it that much.

I love this bag!!! I get multiple compliments on it every single day. It's perfect for work -- holds my laptop, various chargers, a small swim bag, a sweater or light jacket for later in the evenings... everything I need for the day. It even works great for short trips -- I went to New York for a weekend with only this bag (and no... I did not wear the same outfit the entire weekend.) Customer service is also excellent. When I first received the bag, I found the straps to be rather tight. Handmade_World worked with me to figure out what length would work best and sent me a new, longer strap at no additional cost. I will say that people's comments about the hardware breaking are not unwarranted. The buckles that keep the strap attached to the bag could definitely be stronger. The buckles regularly gave way resulting in my bag falling to the ground. I found an easy fix by just wrapping some copper wire around the buckle and strap. Since then, the bag works perfectly and it looks wonderful. I really like that I can easily go from work or the gym to an evening event without feeling like I'm showing up with a clunky backpack. Then there's the price... where do I begin?! I won't even try except to suggest that you look at prices for comparable products. No contest! If and when it meets it's last days I'll simply buy a new one without breaking the bank. Again, I LOVE THIS BAG.

I love the style of this bag and how it has a versatile strap to use as a messenger bag or a backpack. I got this bag for work and business trips, and was excited to have it arrive and be able to start using it right away...Was a bit disappointed when I opened it up and it smelled like a sweaty horse blanket! I love the smell of clean leather and a leather shop! But when you are making items like this that people are purchasing, you need to make sure you have clean tools and a clean area to work that is not being shared with animals or used tack items. I can tolerate the smell since I grew up on a ranch, but I can in no way take this into the office or on a plane without doing a serious cleaning regime on this bag...a process that I now have to carve out precious time to do. I like the style of the bag and it seems to be made well, but as a customer, I should not have to put this extra work into a new/unused item that I already paid a pretty penny for.

I cannot fault this bag. The leather is excellent quality with very neat stitching. The buckles and fasteners feel strong and secure. It's also very comfortable to wear. There's plenty of room for a 15" laptop in one of the inner pockets, and lots of space for other items in the main compartment. It looks flat when you take it out the packaging, so stuff a cushion inside it for a day and it will quickly take shape, as you an see from the pictures.
