The Only Choice for Professionals and Life-Long Gardeners
A garden-loving friend had been exceptionally kind helping me out after an injury, and I needed a really good present to express my appreciation, something that might last longer than a huge box of extra-expensive chocolates, and ideally, of course, a gift that might inspire happy thoughts when used in a fond pursuit. There's no pretending Felco Pruners are inexpensive. There are dozens on the market at a small fraction of the price, but you'd be lucky if they lasted an entire season. Felco's are one of those increasingly rare items crafted to last a lifetime. The carbon steal blade can be removed for a serious sharpening. Or if they happened to be left out in the wet too long (or if you just can't be bothered & want super-sharp fast), replacement blades are readily available at a reasonable cost, as indeed are all the moving parts like the spring and the catch. These are the hand-pruners of choice for both professional landscapers and dedicated home gardeners who know that a tad of thoughtful care will pay off in a lifetime's enjoyment. I recommend also treating yourself to one of the two models of leather holster to keep them readily within reach on your belt every time you venture into the garden. For my friend, I chose the F-6, which is better scaled for smaller hands, and is an excellent all-around tool for everything from gathering bouquets to pruning roses and medium-sized shrubs. Felco makes a dozen or so variations designed larger or stronger hands and a variety of applications. Myself I own two pair: the first was a bonus on my first professional garden job over a quarter century ago, the classic Felco F-2 , and they are still the ones I reach for first. A dozen years ago, I treated myself to the larger, longer-gripped Felco F-13's , which are the only thing for pruning thicker branches in quarters too tight for the usual long-handled loppers or trimmers. Chose carefully, as you would for any friendship you expect to last a lifetime. Incidentally, if I find yourself in the kitchen and needing to cut apart some variety of fowl or game bird, a quick wash with hot water and dish soap allows the Felco's to make quick work the job. Myself, I send them through the dishwasher after use, just on general principles. Then afterwards I treat my shiny-clean clippers to a dab of 3-in-1 (or any sort of mineral oil--including baby (!)--works fine, even olive oil in a pinch) on the blade and any moving parts, and wipe down thoroughly with a soft cloth. Good as new!

Excellent cutting action
Great pair of pruners. Spring action fantastic. This is better than anything you can get at the big box stores.

Best quality available
Perfect! Highest quality available. As a bicycle mechanic, Ive had a pair of Felco cable cutters for over 30-years, and they still work as well as new. A+

those who know - use Felco
I purchased these for my wife for two main reasons. 1) She's left-handed (duh!) 2) They're Felcos - and if you've ever had a pair you know exactly what I mean by that. Felco quality is still, as of this date (Nov 2020), exceptional. If all you've ever done is buy those janky garden shears from your local nursery or big-box - then you've no idea what real quality is. I'm fully aware that I sound like a schill right now. But you need to understand that after buying my first pair of Felcos - I've NEVER had to buy another pair of garden shears. EVER. Sure, I've bought the odd replacement pars package for like $15 USD for the small bits and whatever that wore out over the 15+ years I've used my shears. But I've never had to buy a new pair. Because Felco is GOOD. It's SOLID. Felcos are built in such a way that they can be sharpened - like sharpening a knife blade. They are build to be able to take them apart and oil/grease the bits and adjust them to your liking and then put them back together again. If all you've ever done is buy some crappy Fiskars or whatever then when you buy a pair of Felcos you'll wonder what the hell you were ever thinking. Felcos are LEGIT. Yes, they're not cheap. But no - they don't break beyond repair (usually) and they are made of quality material. You can either pony up and buy a pair of Felcos or you can buy the 'el-cheapo' brands over and over and over and... And let's face it, the 'el-cheapo' brands are getting more expensive these days (for plastic?!?). Buy yourself a pair. And in 10 years laugh when you wonder how much money everyone else is spending over and over again to get an item of poorer quality - while the only thing you and your trusty Felcos have to worry about is rust, and even then only on the steel parts.

Most robust secateurs
Have been using this pair of secs for 7 years now, and they are fantastic. I sharpen them a lot, but that is just through use, and I abuse them a lot by using them on branches they shouldn't be cutting. If you have a strong grip, these will cut through anything you can fit in its jaws. I don't advise that, but they will do it. Much better than paying a paltry amount for worthless secateurs, push the boat out, and these will last forever.

Felco 2 lasts a lifetime
The Felco 2 is the absolute best. Believe me, I know. I had mine since 1996 and always use it. Suddenly I lost it last week. I decided to order a new one, and it arrived within a day. Expensive, but it is worth every cent, and when maintained well, it lasts forever. I use some very light sandpaper to clean the blades, put some oil on it in winter, and further it sharpens itself. The fact not a single part or screw changed in 29 years says enough.
