These are awesome !
Such a good invention. I never knew you could seal things this way. I love it ! I use it to seal coffee beens to keep them fresh as we do not drink coffee often, or dried beans from the pods that we didn t get to eat from the garden to make baked beans or chillis. Millions of uses for these...good investment

Oh yes!
These containers weren't bought to just store food in, but to seal jars that didn't have the 2 piece lids. And they work perfectly! In the UK we really haven't caught up when it comes to vacuum sealing all manner of food items, but being able to use any jars and not have to buy them is a game changer, not only cost wise but to just recycle what most of us already have. If you just want to store and seal food in them then I'd say they are very expensive just for that use. But for me while still expensive they're worth every penny.

EXCELLENT vacuum storage containers - wish they came in more sizes
It is SUPER hard to find vacuum cannisters designed to work with my Avid Armor Vacuum Chamber machine, so I was really pleased to find these. My experience with them thus far has been perfect - they work extremely well, they're reliable, durable, and easy to clean. Vacuum-seal containers are a natural extension for use with an Avid Armor vacuum chamber machine, and these are - in my opinion - really excellent. I noticed a commenter on the Avid Armor site who said he used them for marinating. I would LOVE to use these for marinating, but I haven't used them long enough to be confident they can withstand the kind of pressures marinating would put on these containers. I'm working towards that goal, but want to go slowly and carefully so I'm confident I'm not going to implode a cannister. For straight vacuum sealing, however, I'm really pleased with the three sizes available now, but I DO wish there were additional options - for example, a tall, deep container isn't the best configuration for marinating - a flat, shallow dish would be far superior for that purpose. Tall containers are great for storing ground coffee, or grated cheese, or even fruits/vegetables that tend to go bad very quickly once they reach their ripe stage (avocados, for example). To be really useful for marinating, though, a much better configuration would be a container shaped more like a casserole dish - flat and shallow - to more easily cover the meat with the marinade. Understand - the Avid Armor USV20 is the budget machine from this company (if you can call $400 "budget"), but it is the only one of their consumer-line vacuum chamber machines that can utilize external vacuum sealed canisters - the very popular USV32 (the next size up) cannot. The USV20 is small - meant more for single serving sizes in the internal chamber, and isn't really sized to do serious marinating in the internal chamber. That's why it would be SO cool to be able to use an external vacuum seal cannister to handle a task like marinating. In addition to a wishing for a container shaped to better handle marinades, I'd also like to see a slightly longer tube. While the provided tube is JUST long enough for use with the vertical cannisters. It most assuredly wouldn't be long enough for a dish in any other configuration. That being said, however, the provided tube works extremely well with the vertical containers. So, to summarize - the three containers and hose you get are WELL worth the cost - they're a perfect match for the Avid Armor Ultra USV 20 Vacuum chamber machine, and will handle nearly everything you can throw at them for vacuum storage. I don't know that they're capable of withstanding the higher, prolonged pressures needed for marinating; I've seen one person who claims they're doing just that with these cannisters, but they are, after all, polycarbonate, and they do have finite pressure limits. I am personally hesitant to use the vertical canisters for that purpose until I've got more time with them. I feel strongly the line would benefit from an external container designed with marinating in mind - stronger walls, able to handle higher, prolonged pressure, and shaped in a flat, shallow manner to facilitate marinating with the USV20 vacuum chamber. These three canisters, however, are a great product; I store my ground coffee beans in one, and have stored grated cheddar cheese far longer than I could in a zip-lock type bag. I've also stored guacamole for a week in one and had NO discoloration - something just not possible when storing guacamole in any other type of container. I HIGHLY recommend these storage containers if you have a vacuum sealer that can accommodate the connection size of the hose.
