Authentic Univer Piros Arany Red Gold Hungarian Paprika Paste Sweat Mild - 160 g

I saw this in a food marked in Budapest 2 years ago buying souvenirs for girlfriends & family. Got the powered mostly ( for packing) but got a tube of paste to try myself. Boy does this pack a new & flavorful pop to any dish. I use it in scrambled eggs, spread on grilled cheese sandwiches & others for change of flavor, all soups, pot pies, rub on meats/chicken to bake/ pan cook or roast in oven. It comes in hot & mild so you're set for the different palates in your house. I even doctor up a half gallon of Clamato juice for Bloody Marys and add a good sploosh of this along with my other favs, shake it up good and you're ready st any moment to amaze your friends & family with the best Bloody Mary in town!! DO NOT HESITATE TO TRY THIS!!

We purchased a tube of Univers Gulyascreme Csmege(mild) in Budapest several years ago. I had brought home the tube of creme as well as powdered paprika. We really enjoy the creme best; I eat it by the tablespoon occasionally, but mostly use it to make Hungarian Gulyas soup. The paste can be added to a dip or cooked vegetables also. It tastes like pimiento in a paste form. One can get good Hungarian Gulyas Soup recipes from the internet. I recently reordered 2 160gm tubes (5 1/2oz. apiece). There is a "best by date" on the bottom of the roll-up tube. I refrigerate it after opening; I recently finished off a tube that was over 3 years old. It tasted as fresh as if I had just opened it. When we were in Budapest we ate gulyas at 4 different restaurants, each recipe was a bit different. Our favorite contained caraway seed. Our favorite version of the soup is: cut up top sirloin, potato chunks, plenty of sauteed onion, garlic, garlic salt, beef broth, 1 tsp. caraway seed and about 4+ Tbsp. of gulyascreme (csmege=mild). Gulyas can also be served over pasta, rice or spaetzle. I love to dip homemade rolls into this most excellent broth. YUM!

I heard about this stuff from, of course, a food blog. I decided to try it, as I had loose plans to make Hungarian Goulash anyway. It's an overused phrase but: this is a game-changer in anything recipe calling for paprika that isn't a dusting garnish. The taste is full-bodied and complex. There's no dirt/grit component (something I've found when using enough paprika dust to get any pepper flavor). I order this on a regular basis and keep it in the fridge. Top-notch.

As a full blooded Hungarian, I can vouch for the authenticity of this product, which I use to make authentic Hungarian Chicken Paprikash. The sweet variety is the best, though it tends to be a little salty, so do not add salt, even if the recipe calls for it.

This was sooo good in my Hungarian Goulash. I even used it in something else that called for Paprika. It's Very Yummy gives good flavor and color to your foods and it's not spicy like some paprika's can be.
