If wasps have already nested, will this make them leave?

If you hang the decoy while other real nests are still around your home and in the area, the wasps view this as a second home! Does it kill bees as well?

Is his good for Carpenter bess?

First-hand knowledge here. Our carpenter bee infested barn is still infested but very few wasp nests thanks to artificial wasp nests. So to answer your question, no, not effective against carpenter bees.

Do these work if wasps have built a nest in your house/behind trim?

You may need to get rid of the nests, but they may vacate when you put this up. For several years I had one of these hanging in my open but covered back porch. Before I discovered these, I had dozens of both paper wasp nests and mud daubers. I did get rid of as many as I could, but I'm sure I missed some, beneath and behind boards. Not one new nest ever was built. I saw once in awhile, a scout wasp poking around, looking for nest sites, but none stayed.
