National Geographic Kids Ultimate Dinopedia, 2nd Edition (NGK Ultimate Pedias)

Dinosaur Identify! Parents were very excited as this was for their 4year old who loved the different dinosaurs. Big clear pictures with names and information on that dinosaur. Excellent book.

Gift for our granddaughter. She really liked it.

My son absolutely loves this book. The whole family has learned so much about dinosaurs, including how to correctly pronounce their names. There is a good variety of types of dinosaurs, interesting facts, and great pictures.

This book is fabulous for my 5-year old who loves everything Dino...and it will be intersting for years to come as he learns to read by himself. It's a large book, and is so comprehensive that we both learn a lot even though we only read a few pages each night. The first thing I loved about this book that is different from the others I've bought is the phonetic spelling of each dinosaur name, so that I can pronounce them. I also love the way the book is organized into time-periods,and types-- meat eaters, plant eaters, etc... The pictures are great. The page layout and information is well-done. It makes reading to little ones very fun. I love the little interesting tidbits and the drawings on each page that show the scale of the dino compared to the average man. It has something for everyone...the short attention span, the engrossed student, the casually curious. We recommend this book!!

We have had this book for several years now and we love it. We don't read it everyday anymore but use it as a reference and for random moments of interest. It is a keeper and my son loves it. On the down side, there is one illustration we could have done without. I think it was a velociraptor and baby Dino just hatched...and there is blood dripping down the baby's head after the raptor cracked it with its beak. I mean, really. It freaked my kids out. It even made me uncomfortable. They could have drawn any number of other illustrations for that. Aside from that, we do enjoy the book and just avoid that page bc it's creepy. There are a lot of good things about it- like the information and size comparisons to humans. There are lots of tidbits and it lists what fossils have been found for each Dino, which I find fascinating. I def recommend it...just watch out for that page if your kids are sensitive to baby animals being eaten. Just saying. I'm picky about what books in willing to move every two or three years and this one is in my list of keepers.

I was debating between this book and "Dinosaur!: Dinosaurs and Other Amazing Prehistoric Creatures as You've Never Seen Them Befo (Knowledge Encyclopedias)" which is found also here on Amazon. I opted for this one because it looked just as interesting, and was slightly less costly. When it arrived I was sure it would be a hit but ironically it wasn't, and furthermore the next day my son came home from the library with the other book I had passed over and proceeded to read that one, ignoring his new book I had just gotten for him! go figure. That being said I don't know why he didn't like this one as well and he couldn't really give me a good explanation either... This book is really well done, had a lot of great photos and information but maybe you might consider the other book knowing what my experience was. Still, I can't give it a bad review because it's a great book!

My grandson carries it everywhere he goes and has sticky note paper on pages that has information he's interested in. And mom and dad has to read from it every night. I bought him quite a few dinosaur books but this is his favorite . written for children so he can understand it.

This is indeed a very good book and one with many interesting information on the topic. Very well-rounded. The pictures of some of the dinosaurs, though, do not appear full, which is a shame because it is difficult to imagine the rest of their body. But a very good job in general.

Kids love these books!

Wow! First impressions are of a book much larger and more substantial than I anticipated. The illustrations are superb and the text highly informative. There are copious reference sections as well as the beautifully illustrated profiles of individual species. It’s printed on heavyweight paper so I fully expect it to withstand repeated handling and be durable. I bought this book for my godson’s second birthday. He’s a book lover already and I’m confident he’ll enjoy studying the illustrations, if little else at his age. On the other hand, I’m sure this volume will give him further encouragement in learning to read, with his parents’ support. This is the sort of book that will appeal to a young child but one he will treasure as he matures, learns to read and gains more and more from it in the course of time. I opened the book on receipt for a cursory examination but was quickly hooked and still reading it an hour later. It’s a pity there were no reference books of this scope and quality when I was young. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for dinosaur lovers of all ages. I’ll update this review when I receive feedback from my godson and his parents.

Our daughter has been into dinosaurs since she was a little toddler. We started with the National Geographic first big book of dinosaurs and all the first big book series and read those several times. Then we bought this encyclopedia when she is 9 and she loved it. We read this one again several times with her, this time sometimes she read me and sometimes I read her. It's very explanatory for this age. Definetly a must-have for dinosaurs lovers. Great way of learning and encourages kids to read more and learn more. Highly recommend.
