Otherwise, burlap gets the edge. **Q: Polypropylene or burlap bags. Will be using to place on basketball hoop for weight. Which one will hold better in the sun?** A: The burlap bags are primarily for short term usage (examples: flooding and/or erosion control). Over time the burlap will deteriorate / rot! The polypropylene is also utilized for many of the same conditions. However, these bags have UV protection and will most definitely out last the burlap. Suggestion, don't empty the sand directly into the bag. Leave the sand in its original plastic and work the polypropylene bag around it. Takes a little work, yet provides additional leak protection.
