Works great. I used this to cut some thick insulation foam for my garage door. This is the third time I’ve done this project and I REALLY wish I’d bought this kit before the first time. It was so easy to use and made the cuts like a hot knife through butter. I was able to use the mount and some scrap wood to create a surface that let me make repeatable, flat smoot cuts over and over. Really looking forward to using this for my next project.

Was it fast? No. Did it work well? YES! This thing is fantastic at cutting foam. I used it primarily on the harder 2" pink rigid foam. Most of the time I had 2 pieces adhered to each other (spray adhesive foam works best) and it cut like butter. It's juuuuust 4" long, so it was hard to get to the end of the 2nd layer of foam but it just made it. I had to go slow, but it worked like a charm. I read some people were breaking the head off which is ridiculous. You would have to push amazingly hard in order for that to happen. It will start to bend if you are pushing too hard, so realize that and back off a tad. Just take your time and let the knife do the work! I used it to make big size Monopoly pieces for Halloween at work, and they turned out great. Cutting stuff in 3D is quite the adventure! :)

Cuts foam cleanly and comes with several useful attachments. It takes a little practice to get smooth cuts, and the handle gets warm after long use, but overall a solid tool for projects.

UPDATE: I received a replacement item overnight and it works perfectly. However the manual shows that 3 pens are included but only 2 came in the box, with no slot for the 3rd. Rating 4 stars for this confusion. The power supply cable that connects is faulty because it randomly turns off and I have to hold it a certain way in order for it to stay on. Video attached It cuts well, heats up and cools quickly.

Outstanding Tool. Works great on foam and plastic.

BEWARE - stopped working after about 6 months. It's a great "intro to the hobby" hot wire cutter. Worked great at the start, comes with multiple attachments, just doesn't last. Attachments and power cord plug are delicate. It turns on, then off immediately. Wiggle the attachment / plug and it turns on / off, won't stay on. Frustrating. Messaged the company, who said the warranty is only 1 month. Again - it works, but only for 6 months. Good introductory product.

Heats up fast and easy to use.

Problem with the connection to the power source. Have to wiggle it to get it to come on and it won't stay on very well. Cheaply made. When I can get the power connection to work, It works just fine and could be a really good tool. Disappointed.

This is the best product on this price range on Amazon, I have tested 2 others that they had issues and I decided to spend 20$ more and I don’t regret it. Smooth and sturdy!
