So I applied to weathered galvanized metal as if it's glav' I don't really have a reason to paint that, although I can understand why someone may wish to. The metal did indeed blacken, I left this overnight and I was pleased with the result as I could see a reaction had taken place. I think for lifting something after weather and age has taken it's toll this is going to be useful to have to hand.

This stuff came with a page of instructions which were concise but clear. I thought I had followed them pretty well but it became apparent that the galvanised tube I was applying the solution to was not properly cleaned. When I brushed the solution on it was very obvious that I hadn't done a good enough job preparing the surface. It must be as free from any oil, grease or other contaminants as you can possibly get before you apply it. Get that part right and it works very well. My ONLY issue is that I wish they sold it in smaller quantities because you really don't need much if you do the prep right.

Mordant T solution Having used this product many times over the last 20 years I had no issue with ordering again. This is the best solution for wiping down a galvanised surface prior to paint. The T wash is best brushed or wiped on to the surface required as spraying produces some funky fumes! Once the T wash is dry the product goes a black/purple colour, it’s then safe to paint on. This is the only product I have found that stops paint lifting from a galvanised surface. Very durable and prefrable to pre gassing. Excellent product.
