Caught the Critter on the First Night!
Caught the critter on the first night. This little thief was opening our dog food container and helping himself to dinner every night. One early morning, I was feeding our pets, when I looked up and saw him staring down at me from power line. Couldn't get myself to kill him with lethal rat trap or poison, so decided to try and relocate him somehow. This trap made it easy. Put a little bit of dog food in the trap, and done. Caught him the first night, then relocated him to open field. I was worried a larger rat could maybe open the trap door, but it actually has mechanism to lock it once it closes. Also worried that it didn't have a handle, but you can actually lift it from the long metal bar used to hold the trap door open. The trap is sturdy and well built. Excellent product!

Works.
It works well. Wish it came with a pull out catchpan for droppings & urine underneath in case you don’t get to the cage for a few hours. For the price, seems like it ought to.The only other issue, and this isn’t the cage’s problem, is it catches all kinds of mice. 😂

Got him!
My rat was very smart. He seemed to know from the get-go that this was a trap. He was not falling for the peanut butter on a Ritz. I finally mixed some peanut butter with a little bird seed and put some right outside the trap, right inside, and the finally on the trigger that closed the door. Winner winner! Was able to let him go without injuring him. This trap is self explanatory and super easy to use. Tricking the rat is the hard part.

Great trap
What a good little trap for the price. We had these crazy chipmunks gnawing on the wall of our house to build a nest. And with sunflower seeds I immediately caught 2 chipmunks and accidentally caught one field mouse and one small bird. All were released and unharmed. Remember to check the trap often!

The Rats Laugh and Laugh and Laugh
This is a perfectly well made trap. It's sturdy. It's not hard to set.The rats are really smart. They walk around it. They walk over it. They had a little party next to it, with music and everything. They didn't even wear masks, which I found to be hopeful in this time of pandemic. But they did NOT go in it. No way, no how.I've baited it with everything yummy.I've let it sit there, quietly, to get the rats used to it.Nothing.Period.I'm thinking of using it as a planter.

It does the trick!
I would recommend taking a small piece of cardboard smearing it with peanut butter, adding a few black oil sunflower seeds from my bird feeder, and resting it on the “trip” in the back of the trap. If you apply too much peanut butter to your cardboard the weight of it triggers the trap. You can figure out by trial and error how much you need for the perfect balance to set your trap. This method also keeps the trap clean for when you set it the next time. The two pictures (one with the set trap and the other with the rat) are taken within two hours of each other! I caught a total of six rats within two days. And I realize my problem was solved when I started catching, chipmunks and sparrows.🤣🤣Another trick I learned was if I put a dish towel, size cloth over the cage after I caught my rats that they were much calmer, and it was easier to transport them off to their new home at “ the little cabin in the woods.” It also made ME calmer and more secure about holding the cage knowing that I wouldn’t have a frightened rat lunging at me as I picked up the cage. Everybody wins.
