This exactly what I thought I would need!
I purchased the leg lifter because I knew I would probably need it for my upcoming surgery , which I later cancelled as Iโll tell you later on. I was having revision knee replacement surgery on my right knee because after the first replacement hurt so badly, I wanted my leg amputated after the second day of my first TKA. I was chronically in pain the whole time I wore it- 5 yrs+. After two years, I went investigating myself possible reasons why it would hurt like that and I read about metal allergies. Long story short, it took me three years and five orthopedic surgeons to say that they donโt believe in metal allergies until I finally found a surgeon that offered a blood test to test for metal allergies and it costs $435 and itโs not covered by insurance but I wanted it done anyway .Through the test I found that I am highly reactive to Nickel, and so I had to find a surgeon that used nickel free implants and thankfully I found one. I had the surgery two weeks ago and Iโm walking without assistance (no walkers or canes) I could not believe how great my new knee felt as I took my first steps on the day of the surgery. I was doing stairs the following day, and I was ready to go home! I practiced using the leg lifter before I went to the hospital and it worked great! As far as any lack of instructions go, it surprises me how people can operate an iPhone without any instructions, yet they donโt know how to unfold the leg lifter? I had no problem unfolding it - itโs straight and it works great. Thereโs no kinking, bunching or bending as was mentioned in another Reviews. I did use it for one of my post surgery knee exercises for the heel slides. I used it to pull my foot closer to my body to gain more flexion and Iโm already passed 90ยฐ Iโm like 110ยฐ 2 weeks after surgery! I expected a lot more pain than what I had after this surgery! And this revision was a three hour surgery instead of a normal two hours surgery. So find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and you trust, doesnโt try to talk you out of what you need. Donโt be afraid to say, โNO!โ With one surgeon, I was 4 days away from surgery and I canceled it. Firstly, I never met the surgeon which was a big red flag and then other doctors were telling me about complications that doctor had and some of his patients needed amputations! After I asked his PA, if he does revision total knee replacement, the PA said he does them on a โcase by caseโ basis. Needless to say, I left there as soon as I could and I was never going back. Update! I just had my left knee transplant surgery 12 days ago (3 months from right knee TKA) and Iโm still using the leg lifter for 2 PT exercises instead of a towel. Itโs so much easier than trying to use a towel! My knee is still very tight and doing any flexion exercises donโt hurt at all, itโs just that itโs so tight, I canโt get the bend that I want. I checked my calendar and remembered that I first saw my outside PT 3 weeks from surgery and I was able to sit with my ankles crossed underneath the chair! My therapist kept asking, โDoesnโt that hurt?โ I told him it doesnโt. I worked really hard on the flexion exercises because I wanted to get full range of motion and the only way to do so was to be consistent and thorough with all exercises they want you to do. I got my flexion angle to 120 degrees which I think is what they want. ๐คฃ I was able to put full weight on my surgery leg after surgery when they got me up the day of surgery. Boy, was I scared! Remember my first nickel transplant was extremely painful and I wasnโt able to put any weight on my surgery leg. The PT accused me of not trying. I was in excruciating pain because of the unknown nickel allergy. So ladies, if you canโt wear cheap pierced earrings, you may want to ask to have the metal allergy test done before surgery. If the surgeons say they donโt know about any test, thatโs most likely because they only do nickel transplants. Surgeons seem learn only on a specific kind of transplant and most are make of nickel. I heard some docs donโt believe in the blood tests though. Skin allergy tests donโt work because this is an internal transplant and not something that will cause contact dermatitis. So if you need a knee transplant, ask as many questions as you want! If youโre not comfortable with the surgeon, go find another. My doctor was my first D.O. surgeon I have ever gone to and I really liked him a lot! Thatโs not saying that Iโll switch to all D.O. doctors, yet I was very happy with him from the first consultation! He spent 15+ minutes with us and thatโs not normal. Weโll, as usual, another long review, yet I believe itโs all important to stand up for yourself and say โNo!โ when youโre uncomfortable. Iโve dealt with some mental health doctors who have a โgod complexโ thinking they know better than we do. They donโt and when one doc went against our daughterโs wishes as stated on our MPOA , we got the Patient Advocate involved. They are there to fight WITH YOU against the system! We even were able to talk to the director a long time. Due to ours and others complaints, he didnโt last longer at that hospital. Our daughter did not want to take a certain medication because she didnโt like how it made her feel and nether did we. So when she told us that her made her take it, we went immediately to the hospital to confront him by going through the Patient Advocate first! Most people donโt know about PAโs in hospitals, yet they are there and so willingly to help! I really went off topic, yet my mind wonโt stop when one subject leads to another! Have a great day!

Great Physical Therapy Aid
I bought this so I could keep up with my physical therapy exercises at home. This is the same exact one I use at physical therapy. It is comfortable, easy to use, and sturdy. It really helps with my leg exercises and makes it easier to do them on days when I am in a lot of pain.

So valuable to help get through painful time.
Could not be more pleased with this item for a hip replaced. Even tho the PT person showed us how to use the curved part if an upside down cane, I decided to try this to compare. I definitely prefer this one. Itโs perfect. Itโs easy to use and itโs malleable to conform to your foot. Thank you to the designer of this item. Shockingly helpful purchase to get thru hard times.

Great to have after having hip replacement surgery
After having hip replacement surgery this tool was recommended by my surgeon to help lift my leg during recovery whether to lay down on the couch or to get into bed. It works very well, but you truly only need it for a month or so and then it serves no purpose. Itโs made of high-quality material. Itโs very sturdy and it does the job that is supposed to. It does make it easy to use and easier to lift your leg after surgery.

Must have for knee surgery
Aside from my ice machine this is hands down the most useful purchase after my partial knee replacement. This helps getting in and out of bed, getting dressed, going to the bathroom. Best $7 Iโve ever spent! I also use this post surgery to work on my range of motion.

Needed for 2-3 days only
This works well and is not expensive - but you only need it for a couple of days following hip or knee surgery. I used a yoga strap and an exercise band and they worked just as well.

Easy to use and sturdy
Wow, this is a great tool! So glad to have purchased it. This makes moving my leg much easier, and has a long reach which is great. The tough fabric makes it easy to grip onto.

Amazing
If you are going to have knee surgery, I highly recommend this. I canโt say enough good things about this. I took it with me to the hospital when I had surgery and the nurses were impressed by it. It folds up quite small as well.

Easy to use and sturdy
I didn't think I needed this after my hip replacement surgery, but I am glad I bought it. I am young and strong but felt weak after my surgery, so this helped me get in and out of bed easily during the first couple of days. It was also helpful to have beside my bathtub to have a shower on my bath bench. It's design is simple with a thin metal rod sandwiched between the webbing on the foot hold and though the length of the strap which makes leg lifting easier.

Leg Lifter
I have reservations about how long this device will last when you are bending it regularly so you can store it in the car. Otherwise it does the job required, but getting it off your foot is not so easy
