Starting Out with Python (3rd Edition) 3rd Edition

This book is very good for beginners that wants to learn programming ! Better than Zed Shaw's Learn Python the Hard Way, because you are learning and understanding the concepts, instead of just coding without knowing the definitions of Strings, def, tuples, lists, dictionaries.Before you jump into other programming languages, learn Python first. because it is simple and you will get the structure/basics/concepts of how programming works! Then once you learn Python and get the hang of it, other programming languages will make a lot of sense.This book is very simple, breaks it down by chapters/lessons. It is easy to follow and helps you understands the concepts/basics. It has a mix of readings and examples. Programming exercises and Homework at the end of the chapter helps a lot! Do them. instead of just reading the book and skimming! if you do get stuck, there are many resources, You-Tube videos out there to help you.

Thank you Tony Gaddis for these amazing books. First I studied ( starting out with programming logic and design book) and wow!!! Loved loved it and that made me love programming and CS, then I studied this one and I loved it. After getting familiar with Python I think I will either get JAVA or C++ book from the same series. I love the programming exercises at the end of each chapter, and I love his style of organizing the book (introduction,then example,then explanation for the example). Thank you

This book is Very nice. As a student I know that some of my books will cost quite a bit; this one was an acceptable cost but it is written in easily understandable language. That makes the book have value. It seems silly but having simple language makes a world of difference when you are learning to program. The book has many additional supplements but you need to buy it new to use them obviously.The pages are a bit thin, so a highlighter is a poor choice but once again as a student I appreciate the penny pinching...

I’m trying to learn Python and the profesor recommend this book, it has help me a lot to learn and understand easily.

Just what I needed for my intro to programming class. Book is well organized and written, A great introduction to programming in general and Python. My only regret is that I rented it so I had to return it instead of having it for future reference.

Book had slight cigarette odor and back pages had been wet but otherwise great purchase considering the book is hard to find

Delivered in good shape, good examples, easy to understand for a complete beginner, and the pages are not too thin at all, not sure what the other complaints are about, they're just as thin as any other school textbook pages. Good price as well

This is a good intro to Python book, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants an overview of Python. It's definitely suitable for people new(er) to programming, but still worth a casual read for experienced coders and I've found it to be a nice reference; however, if you are experienced, have an idea of what you want to do, and have more time on hand than extra cash, you can save some money by just reading through the abundance of documentation at python.org.
