The excess goes inside anyway so there's no excess hanging out. **Q: Can it work with a Samsung or does it have to be a Google phone?** A: My pixel watch works great with my Samsung phone. The band I got was brand new, still sealed, and it seriously doesn't smell as bad as what people in other reviews are saying. There is a small odor to it, but it's not highly offensive. I wore the band all day at work and never noticed the odor. I even asked my boyfriend what he thought (as not having read the reviews on it) and he didn't find it to be a strong scent either. I love the colors and how comfortable it is! My only complaint is that the band connector is not as tight to the watch as the active bands. For the very large price tag the connection could be better. Luckily it doesn't rattle or make noise while it's on my wrist.
