Q: Is this suitable for testing 00 gauge locomotive ?

Yes. It will test a OO gauge locomotive. Tests the voltage. Current drawn by motor. Resistance and continuity of the track also LEDS within the light engine. Good TRACK CIRCUIT tester ! As it's called .

Q: Can this test the battery life of normal batteries such as AA and AAA?

Yes this meter can test AA and AAA batteries and any other battery. Just set the dial to the expected voltage setting i.e 2 volts for a 1.5 volt AAA battery and place the probes either end of the battery. Good new battery will show 1.5 volts and older/used batteries with less life will be lower i.e 0.8 volts so need replacing.

Q: Is there a Calibration certificate ?

I did not receive a calibration certificate with my meter, so don't think so. It is an excellent meter though with build quality and features excellent.
