BEST kindling maker I've ever owned!!! A++++++
I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but this one is definitely deserving of one!!! First off, I liked the story behind how this product was developed. More importantly, this is HANDS DOWN the BEST kindling maker I've ever had! It's sturdy, safe, quick, and just plan WORKS....all with minimal effort! You can make your sizes as big or as little as you want. No more hoping to hit where you want with an ax/hatchet, picking up, trying to stand the piece on end, and repeating over and over. Go with the KC King (XL) size and it'll chew through anything thrown at it! I'd say I'd order again, but with how well this is built, I'd imagine it'll be a generational hand-down type of tool, and will last. VERY impressed!!!!!!

A Well Made and Effective Tool
I rarely write reviews, and I've only owned the wood splitter for a week, but in the two ro three times I've used it I've been very impressed. It's solidly built and has cut the wood easily and efficiently. The wood I cut had no knots in it. It appears to me that if you are using the tool in the manner prescribed, and the wood has relatively parallel grain it should work well of you.

Well made and works great!
This thing is very well made and works great! I prefer smaller logs for my fire pit and it makes it super simple and safe to reduce the size of the larger logs I have. I have terrible aim swinging a maul so this makes splitting much easier. I use a 4lb sledge with a 16" handle. Highly recommend.

Excellent splitter!
Great product, works exceptionally well on tough wood, splits them with little effort, resharpens easily when you screw up and hit the blade!

Durable and Safe
This is a great tool for splitting pre-cut wood. Very sturdy and much safer than splitting with an axe... a good investment for fire pit wood or fireplace wood. I am a grandma in my 70's and able to use this tool. Able to purchase in different sizes ;chose a sturdy, hefty hammer for use with this tool...wear safety glasses

One minor improvement away from perfection
I've used this for multiple cords of wood and it's been rock solid the entire time. Easy to install, really easy to use, though keep in mind that you need to make sure your rough logs are small enough to fit in. Ideally, install this on a base that's barely bigger than the feet, that way when you have longer pieces and want to split them there's room for them to drop down the sides. Otherwise, the partially split pieces can get caught up on whatever base you've got and you have to manually pull them away to finish the split. This is not an issue if you keep the logs to about a foot long in size though. My only improvement would be to have the bolt holes for installing it be complete circles as it would give a slightly better installation as the exact placement of bolts/screws holding it wouldn't need to be as precise. I had to install it twice as the first time the stump split under one of the lag bolts and I had to move it. You basically have to install one side as good as you can and snug it right up to the bolts/screws, hold it as tightly as possible against them, then install the other side. It's not that bad, but could be a bit easier. Once done though it's held great and I've not had any issues with it loosening over time. Keep in mind this is only going to be as sturdy as whatever base you put it on, so if you try to tighten it done on an older softer stump or equivalent it will definitely get loose, but that's an installation issue not a product issue.

This has made me love my fireplace even more!
It works! It works really well! I saw this in an advertisement and thought there's no way that could work that easily to split kindling. That's probably because I've been using either an axe or a hatchet and doing it the hard way, meaning I miss half the time. I'm a vertically-challenged almost-antique female, and if I can produce a pile of kindling with this thing without calling 911, you know it works easily! We fastened four pieces of 4 x 4 lumber together to make a platform to attach it to so it sits nice and steady, and picked up a 4-pound short handled sledge hammer to keep it company. That's all it takes. Sit the piece of firewood end on end on the blade, keep tapping it down with the hammer, and you get kindling. It's just that easy. So far the blade has stayed seriously sharp, and with no moving parts, you can't kill it. This item is solidly built. It looks like it was made by a blacksmith. One thing I'd suggest is that you get the larger size this comes in. The smaller size might be just a little small for some pieces of firewood to fit into, but the larger size has easily accommodated all of the pieces I've needed to split. One of the best things I've ever bought. Simple, strong and it works exactly as advertised.

Best Way to Make Kindling
This is the best way I have ever found to produce a lot of kindling fast and safe. I am happy I bought this one and not a cheap knock off. I feel completely safe letting my kids make kindling...I will not turn them loose with a hatchet. This is faster, easier, and much safer than any hatchet. I wouldn't own a woodstove without one now!
