I needed a dimmer for some string lights on my back fence. First I tried one of the fancier ones that operate via an app on your phone. But it said I was supposed to change the setting on my router to make it compatible, which I wasn't excited about. And along the way I decided having to open up an app on my phone to turn my lights on and off, while kinda cool I guess, actually wasn't all that convenient. So I sent it back and bought this dimmer with an old-school remote and I love it! Very easy to set up. Just hold the button on the main unit as you plug it in, wait a few seconds for the light to start flashing, and then press any button on the remote. Viola, it is paired and ready to go. I set the whole thing up in about 2 minutes out of the box and most of that was just was just walking into the backyard haha. And it works great! Turns the lights on and off and dims the lights as advertised. Plenty of increments so you can have the lights as bright or dim as you like. And the remote works over a long range, even if I'm inside and on the opposite end of the house with multiples walls and electronics between the remote and receiver. I would definitely but another one if I had a use for it. Good product for a good price!

worked wonderfully right out of the box but one week later the remote will not work. Sad as that is the reason for the purchase. Review UPDATE - the supplier reached out to me, offered trouble shooting tips and sent a replacement that worked perfectly.

I’m using this to control outdoor string lights and it works well. My only complaint is that the dimming feature doesn’t seem to work if you just hold the button down. You have to press it repeatedly, lots of times, because it dims in tiny little increments (which is what I wanted). Remember to remove the tiny piece of paper from the remote’s battery compartment. Otherwise it doesn’t work at all.

I got this because I didn’t want to have to go outside to turn my patio lights on. I can keep the remote in the car a turn them on from the car if I drive up to the house in the dark. I live out in the woods an it is pitch black so I love the remote so I can get a look around before getting out and walking up. I’m always within 15-20 feet of the dimmer switch and they always turn on. The dimmer option too is great because I can turn my lights down so they are not too bright from the road! My only regret is I didn’t buy the one with two remotes!

Defective remote right out of the box. The remote only worked when it was held less than one foot from the plug. I installed a brand-new battery, and it still did not work. I returned it.

Works great with my string lights on my porch so I can dim or brighten them as I please.
