Work well!
These weights have been so handy. I have used them with fermenting my garden peppers, green and red, to make delicious hot sauces. I used them in my fermented sauerkraut too!

No mold
These weights worked to prevent my fermented pickles from molding. That they are glass makes them easy to clean. The only problem with them is that they can sometimes get stuck in the jar a little if the jar isnt filled up enough when they are put in.

No mold in my sauerkraut
This is the second style of airlock lids I have used. I think they require a little bit more maintenance than my other ones did, but one should be checking in on new ferments regularly anyway, so there is that. If you are like me and don't leave quite as much head room as one probably should, during those first few days of active fermenting the liquid from the jar may push up into the airlock and may overflow. Change the water when this happens and try to get the air bubbles out of the jar. There is water exchange between the ferment and the airlock in this condition, so you want to minimize it. I suppose using some saltwater in the airlock could be done for the first couple of days, but I have not bothered. I didn't have any great looking outer leaves on the cabbages I used for my sauerkraut a few days ago, so I didn't use one to hold the kraut down (I just used weights) and the neck of the airlock got clogged with little bits of cabbage. The good thing about this design is that it is super easy to rinse that out. Most importantly, all of the parts fit my wide mouth Ball mason jars (short and wide pints, quart and half-gallon sizes). The kit is easy to use. The airlock works. I have had no signs of mold in my kraut. I let my sauerkraut ferment on the counter for several weeks before moving it to the refrigerator. I use other lids and take the weights out at that point, so I have no comment on how the stoppers in the lids function. I like the design on the weights, but I do wish they were heavier to keep the cabbage down and let air instead of cabbage juice escape, but they work well enough.

Test the weights before the return window closes
I suggest testng all the weights before the return window closes so you don't have my problem. I thought I would try my hand at making homemade sauerkraut and bought these weights. When I got these, I took 1 out and slid it into one of my canning jars to make sure it would fit as some of the items I needed for fermenting would be late and I didn't want to go past the return window if they wouldn't work. I should have tried all four because after getting the rest of the items I needed, I made my first jar of sauerkraut. I tried to slid 1 of the weights into my wide mouth quart jar of sauerkraut and it stuck in jar neck and would go no farther. I tried to pull it back out and it was stuck fast. I spent several minutes gently trying to pry it out, only for the jar to break and I had to throw it all out. I decided to try them all in empty jars to see if the problem was the weights. Of the four, I found that only one fit into the wide mouth jars and even that one gets stuck a bit. I would send them back but the return windo has passed. Since there are several reviews of these working, mine might have been defective, so I would suggest to anyone buying these to test them in an empty jar before the window to return them closes. EDIT: I upgraded this review to 4 stars because the company has great customer service and they offered to replace the defective weights and make it right. I appreciated it.

Works great
They fit perfectly in a wide mouth jar, and the knob on top makes them easy to get out when fermentation is complete.
