EagleTec KG040 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Blue LED RGB Backlit Wired with Clicky Blue Switches Equivalent Compact Tenkeyless with 87 Keys for Windows PC (Black)

The MX blue (I assume clones) in this are top notch, far exceing what I expected. They've very loud though, the space bar especially. Compared to other TKL's I've found, this is exceedingly nice to type on. The backligting, while blue only, can easily be turned off and has multiple levels. The inclusion of volume and media functions on the fn row is nice, but even better there's a windows lock key. Strangely, the arrow keys have WASD printed (but not illuminted) on them, and the WASD keys have the arrow keys on them, with the arrows not illuminted. Further, there's a windows key lock fn. Clearly this board targets gamers. I have yet to look and see if the arrow key oddity is because it's possible to get them to act as a WASD cluster. The font is pretty 'Gamer-y' as well, but clearly readable. Coming from someone who uses a custom built split mechanical keyboard (ergodone) every day, this keyboard is very nice. Clearly be aware it is ten-key less, if that's relevant to you. But, if you need the desk space or just want a smaller board, this board is great.

First day impressions. Very solid, bright blue leds, and very clicky blue switches. The click is loud but satisfying. the keys have a nice feel to them and are easy to type on after transitioning from my membrane keyboard. Small and compact, which is what i wanted for my desk size. The only thing i would like to be done differently are the lighting effects, its only 2 modes (static and breathing) but the breathing mode is too simple and not a lot of speed adjustments for it, other than that, writing this review with this keyboard at a decent speed. 4/5 would recommend for a simple and cheap mechanical keyboard if you're on a budget.

Overall it’s a great keyboard. The Outemu blue switches are a little louder than Cherry MX blues, and, IMO, actually seem to have the tactile feedback more in sync with actual switch engagement than the genuine Cherry MX blues they are imitating. The only downside to this keyboard is that it is all plastic. The build quality is actually pretty decent considering the price. I would also prefer dedicated media keys, but you have to give up a few things if you want a keyboard that fits well in a 15 inch laptop bag. If you are looking for a quieter keyboard, you’ll need to find one with brown switches. Blue switches are loud, regardless of keyboard model. Update July 2022: I still have this keyboard after 4 years and it still works like a champ. A couple of the LEDs in the Outemu switches have dimmed a bit, but they all still work. Not bad for a keyboard that's been banged around and had all manners of things spilled in it over the last 4 years. Pretty durable for a sub-$30 keyboard.

Not really. But I did buy a second identical keyboard. After trying half a dozen mechanical keyboards over the years, I purchased the EagleTec KG040 for my home office in April 2019. Since then, I've been using it every day, all day long, and am very happy with it. Its blue(-like?) key mechanisms provide just the "clickiness" and feedback I like, although officemates may consider it a bit noisy. I am currently setting up a second PC at my "walking treadmill get healthy" desk, and wanted to use the same keyboard as my "sit down and get fat" desk. A terrific value at the usual $27.99 price, I happen to catch the KG040 on sale for $11.20. The blue backlight on the new unit seems a bit brighter than my original. I don't know if they've changed the light source or my old one has grown dimmer over time. I am not a gamer, nor a number-cruncher who needs a numeric keypad, but for my purposes, this device clicks all the right buttons.

This keyboard doesn't have the numbers on the right side, but I always use the row above to do numbers and signs, so I don't miss it, but it does make a big difference in lightness and comfort in handling. So the size is excellent, it has nice bright blue color (it might flash different colors or "breathe" but I never tried those functions) I need a good feeling keyboard with a nice comfortable spring pressure and a clear, audible "CLICK" for each key, and this delivers. I think I paid twenty seven or twenty eight dollars for it, and can't believe what a good bargain it is for the quality. When I have a little extra money I'm going to buy a backup. I am very particular with my writing tools, and I hook this one up to my laptop, plug and play. One of my better Amazon purchases.

For only $28 this is a phenomenal keyboard. This keyboard uses cherry mx blue equivalents (they look like Outemu Blues) and are really loud just like you should expect. The clickiness is there but the only huge problem is the insane amount of ping coming from the keyboard. It sounds as if you're hitting a really hollow metal cylinder with another piece of metal. The keys are nice, but they're also kind of ugly. The lights are nice, but I wish they had more than only 8 options. The build quality is very nice, there is no flex from the keyboard because the top plate is made of metal. It has good weight to it and is nice to use. The rubber feet on the keyboard is also really nice. overall this keyboard would be absolutely perfect if there was way less ping.

I have the version that is keypad less, but it still works great for my needs. If you are in the market for a keyboard that has the clickity-clackity sound as well as the "tactile feel" when inputting a keystroke, the mx blue switches are definitely something to look at. This keyboard has all of that, it has a very loud click and a nice feeling to it. It's a great imitation of the higher end keyboards that have the "real" cherry mx blue switches that cost an arm and leg for just because of RGB lighting. This keyboard however; provides copycat switches at a fraction of the price. My blue led version is just bright enough, and even has a subtle breathing effect. There are a couple of hidden things this keyboard can do with the function key that is not included in the user manual. For example, locking out wasd keys and turning them into arrow keys just by fn + w. My biggest pet peeve with this keyboard is that is slides around too much. Even with the rubber feet, this keyboard does not stay still, it slips around so easily. Also, its extremely loud. If you do not like the audible clicks, then you should consider a different key style.

The keyboard lights up very nice and the keys work well. The only drawback is the keyboard keys are too noisy.
