KandyToys Crystal Gems Digging Kit | Kids Science Kits | Experiment

Purchased this set on a last minute whim for my 9 year olds birthday and it was a complete success! She absolutely loved it. It comes with lots of different and wonderful looking ‘gems’ to discover, along with a bunch of tools (some more effective than others) and a little bag to store the gems in. I thought it only came with one rock to dig away at but was really pleased to find that it actually comes with three rocks...and they're huge! This set kept her busy for hours, really captured her attention and was something that she kept wanting to come back to. The only downside is that it's very messy (just put some newspaper or a sheet down, and have a damp cloth on standby - no big deal). I'm really pleased with this purchase, especially at such a brilliant price, and would happily recommend to others.

Such a lovely set and loads for your money. I bought one for my daughter's 9th birthday. She and her sister loved it so much that I had to buy another for my youngest, who's 6. I even enjoyed getting involved! There are three rocks to excavate and they each contain four crystals. There is a small bag to keep the crystals in once you have found them. The hammer is very good although I did give my girls a small flat head screwdriver each (obviously supervised) as the plastic tool provided was taking too long! It's lots of fun and great for a rainy day. We have also been learning about all the different crystals too so also great for educational purposes.

My nephew loved it

The toy itself is brilliant fun. Digging for gems is very exciting. I got this for my 7 year old who had no preexisting interest in gems/rocks and he loved it HOWEVER - BE WARNED - the material that forms the lumps the gems are hidden it is very very hard. The tools included simply don't cut it (literally!!!). It did require some creativity and brute force from an adult and a rather large screwdriver. Other things that came out were a big rolling pin and metal teaspoon (the back is great for drilling action!). We ended up breaking off the outer parts of the rock just to uncover the stones a little and then let our child actually dig them out. It is a loud process and makes a lot of mess but it is great fun. It gets only 4 stars and not 5 because if you classify a toy to be suitable for 6+, then I imagine it means a child that age can carry out the activity unaided, which is not the case here. Having said so, I do recommend it for children that have a little patience and focus. It is a nice activity and the gems are lovely.

I bought it for my 7 years old son to keep him busy during holidays. He absolutely loved the idea of digging gems out from the rocks with special tools that are included in the kit. He was very excited when he found more gems then described on the package. It's a bit noisy and messy play, but definately worth it 👍

"gems" are actually glass pebbles, bit disappointing because i read through and i cant see where it says they are glass. good fun for my daughter, but the tools are really shoddy. Broke the chisel after the first few pebbles and the hammer did not hold up well. But overall and enjoyable gift for a young girl interested in gems

Fantastic value for money. This is the second time I have ordered this gem finding kit for my boys aged 8 and 10 as they loved it so much. The rocks containing crystals are about the size of my hand and each has 4 gems to dig out with the small tools provided. Obviously, given the price, the gems are not real but they look real enough to fool my 8 year old!! Kept the boys busy for a good couple of hours or more across a couple of days.

I had purchased this for my 4 year old, she seems to enjoy archaeology and digging out gems from blocks. I had purchased a few boxes before buying this one and this is by far, the best one out there. You get three blocks and in those, there are 4 gems so you get 12 gems in total. My daughter is in her element and has put them all in a pot. The gems do vary and you seem to get all of them that are shown on the back of the box. All imitation gems but for the price and what you get, it is by far the best one out there.

Meine Kinder hatten viel Spaß daran, die Edelsteine herauszuklopfen. Es hat länger gedauert als erwartet, ich empfehle ein Handtuch darunter zu legen, dann ist der Lärmpegel gedämpfter ;) Natürlich entsteht dabei etwas Schmutz, aber der Spaßfaktor ist es wert!
