Excellent fun on the beach, at the park, and nowadays used as a precursor to javelin in most Athletic clubs in England. My son has actually progressed hugely now in Javelin and started with the good old Nerf Howler!

Do enjoy these, fairly sturdy, until a dog rips them apart, but fairly pricey for a what it is I feel. Great on the beach, and do enjoy hearing that whistling sound! The tail makes it fly like a shuttlecock in badminton, so it always faces the right way. Whilst we were throwing it on the beach, the whistle attracts every dog nearby, and ended up being a mad chase to get the ball first! 1-0 to the dogs, and I'll be buying another!

The Vortex Aero Howler has been great fun, you can throw it pretty far if you have a good arm and it can be thrown accurately. The name "Howler" is a bit misleading as the sound effect isn't massive or much of a howl but it does add to the product. The quality is very good, you can throw it in many ways including from the tail fins - very solidly attached and it has landed from great heights without any damage. It is quite heavy and relativity hard - you wouldn't be wanting to hit any kids in the head with it that's for sure... It can sting your hands quite a bit if you catch it wrong.. I would say it's more for ages 8+. Great fun, keeps you fit, gets you outside so recommend for sure!

We purchased a similar product to this a couple of years ago and it was naff. Within a couple of days the fins at the back had started falling off, and it was consigned to the bin. I decided to try again with a genuine Nerf product and I'm glad I did - it's been absolutely brilliant. On a two week beach holiday to Portugal it got played with every day and showed zero signs of wear. My 11 year old and I had particular fun throwing it to each other, but the whole family including my 2 and 5 year olds had a go. You can throw it like a Rugby ball or even under-arm from the tail end. A fantastic beach toy.

Present for 8yrs old but we’ve used on beach with all ages and everyone loves it. It’s given us hour of fun and develops throwing and catching as it makes both really easy. It’s basically impossible to mess up a throw and due the the design even a weak throw goes a long way, meaning mixed groups can play together. Whistle is a bit of fun too, and not too loud.

We spend a lot of time outdoors and when my son doesn’t want to bring his football, he’ll insist on bringing this to play. We’ve had a number of generic versions bought from bargain and toys shops before but none ever seems to last, either the tail fins break off or the main body disintegrates. When we finally decided to spend a bit more money on this one, we wished we bought it first time. It’s extremely durable, having been pulled out of bushes and abused through incorrect throwing techniques, it is still 100% intact and ready for the next outing. My only complaint is that we wished the whistles were louder, however this does encourage us to throw it better and higher for the better whistling effect. A great outdoor toy and head turner at campsites.
