**Q: Does this bag have a laptop compartment? Thanks**
A: No. I put my laptop in it but there is no padding at the bottom of the bag so it's not safe for one

**Q: are the straps durable and able to support heavy things (i.e. textbooks, etc.) or would they rip?**
A: I have used this for a trip to Norway , in the snow during a massive snowstorm that lasted days.
I had cameras , maps , water bottles and heavy stuff.
I was surprised the backpack it's still in great condition , waterproof , really for this price You can't get any better.
Only thing I miss with this is the strap on the waist
Overall is a great travel and everyday companion

**Q: Would this hold enough clothes for a week?**
A: I very much doubt it. I would say even for a weekend this bag is too small. A bigger hold-all would be more suitable

**Q: does this bag have a chest strap**
A: As other people have stated, it doesn't have a chest strap, but if you can scavenge some nylon strapping and a plastic snap buckle you can easily make your own, I did. It works fine.

Excellent and good price, but it's not really big enough (or the rounded design limits this) for a 15" laptop. It's ok for 13" inch work laptop and a few A4 notepads, but I'll have to buy a seperate bag anyway for my personal laptop. So it limits it's use a bit, especially as when staying away from home I'll take both laptops with me. A slightly bigger version would have been perfect though.
