Anker have become a reliable brand in most ventures they are involved with these days, whether they are speakers, PC peripherals or power banks. I have a tonne of peripherals connected to my home laptop (which has limited USB ports) so this extension allows me to place another four. It is a simple plug and play device with incredible ease of use. Just plug it into one of the USB ports and then add the peripherals to the four new USB plugs at your disposal. The build quality is great and Anker have done well to give it a little bit of a funky design with some blue highlighting. There are no light indicators to determine that it is working, but in all honesty these are not needed. The cable for connecting to the PC is quite short, which is actually more of a blessing rather than a curse as the port stays very close to the laptop. I need more wiring in the same way that I need more facial spots before a hot date. The port is well made, subtle and has decent build quality - most importantly is works well and connectivity to your peripherals works as it should. Great product at a reasonable price.

However, it does come with one massive, glaring headache: the physical layout and lack of easily accessible I/O ports. Once you assemble everything inside a small form-factor case, the two standard USB 3.0 ports on the back are immediately taken up by a basic keyboard and mouse. This leaves you completely stranded when you want to expand your storage or connect extra controllers for local multiplayer.That is exactly why I picked up the Anker 4-in-1 USB Splitter Hub. I needed a clean, dependable way to extend my storage capacity and open up connectivity without dealing with constant disconnections or bottlenecking my game loading speeds. This little hub plugs directly into one of the rear USB 3.0 ports and instantly splits it into four full-speed slots.The primary job of this hub in my setup is managing my external game library. Anyone building a BC250 machine knows that formatting high-capacity external drives in SteamOS can sometimes be finicky. I have a high-speed external SSD permanently mapped to the Anker hub as secondary storage for larger titles. Even during extended, multi-hour gaming sessions when the drive is reading massive texture files, the hub performs flawlessly. The data transfer speeds stay incredibly stable at 5 Gbps, meaning I do not experience any of the micro-stuttering or lag that usually happens with cheap, generic splitters.What I appreciate most is its rock-solid reliability. It's a good little hub - does exactly what I want it to and looks good doing it. I don't notice any difference in transfer speeds etc. and the little blue LED is useful for letting you know it's working. It also doesn't distract me like some other status lights do. Several people in these reviews have mentioned that using this hub has messed up their Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth. *This is not a direct fault of the hub and it is not harming your computer in any way*. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and lots of other wireless things all operate on the 2.4GHz frequency (unless you're using 5GHz Wi-Fi) and these signals will happily get along without causing each other any issues. The issue is that USB 3.0 cables/ports inherently emit electrical signals at frequencies around 2.4GHz. If a USB 3.0 hub (for example) is placed close enough to your Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antennae (definitely possible on a laptop given how short the lead for this particular hub is) it could cause all sorts of interference issues with your Wi-Fi/Bluetooth signals and the antennae will struggle to receive its intended signal. As an example, my MacBook Pro was working absolutely as usual with my Bluetooth mouse until I added the hub into the equation - it's been awful ever since. The mouse lags terribly and is jittery to the point that it's unusable - this is the effect of the interference from the hub. The solution seems to be using an extension cable so that you can keep the hub as far away from the affected antennae in the computer as possible. In the case of my MacBook, this would mean keeping it away from the plastic hinge (antennas are usually behind a plastic part on a metal laptop as the signal needs a "window" to get out of). I'm going to buy a USB 3.0 extension lead and a new Micro-B lead for my external HDD as well; I shall report back on any differences they make. Again, this is not a direct issue with the hub itself. USB 3.0 HDDs (and other accessories) are known for causing these kinds of issues, especially if the cable quality is poor. The solution lies in either better-shielded cables or a greater distance between the hub and the antenna. I do think Anker should have put some more effective shielding in the cable, so I'm docking it a star for that. Great otherwise though! tl;dr - USB 3.0 can interfere with your Wi-Fi/Bluetooth signals so keep the hub out the way of these antennae or use a well-shielded USB 3.0 extension lead. Very reliable USB 3.0 hub with stable connections and good build quality. Works great for projects using multiple ESP boards, USB serial devices, and Raspberry Pi setups. Everything runs smoothly without random disconnects or communication problems. One important thing for beginners: if you connect several ESP boards, displays, or other power-hungry devices, do not expect the Raspberry Pi USB ports alone to provide unlimited power. Data communication works perfectly, but heavier setups should use their own proper power supply instead of relying entirely on Pi USB power. Used correctly, this hub is excellent for robotics and electronics work.

Looks good. Feels well made. Slots feel a little tight when inserting a usb. But better that than loose! Nice one!

So, I built my lad's PC and still we manage to run out of USB ports - how did I manage that?? I needed a USB hub to transform a single USB 3 port into 4 ports and Anker is the brand I turn to for anything like this. The first thing that strikes you about this is just how small it is. Gone are the days of the big clunky ports requiring a power supply and a sizeable portion of desk space! It is slim, lightweight and just plugs into a USB port. Tip. If possible, plug into a USB 3 port (that is usually the one that is blue inside) as you will get the fastest speeds that way. USB 3 will handle multiple connections at the same time with no issues at all. Practical warning. This is a hub that does not have its own separate power supply, so please don't expect it to charge anything like your phone. It is to be used for USB sticks and devices like keyboards, mice, webcams etc. If you use it for that, it works beautifully and is small enough to place it wherever you find convenient. One gripe, and it is just a minor one. The cable to connect to the PC (USB port) is quite short at around 2ft (or 60cm) and is integrated to the hub. Of course, if you need longer, just use a USB extension cable (yes, you can get them). Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, it will also work with your Apple devices (if they have a USB port). Ne ho comprati diversi per il mio PC e anche per altri dispositivi in casa e ufficio. Questo hub Anker è davvero ben fatto: piccolo, leggero ma stabile e affidabile. Il cavo da 61 cm è comodo per adattarsi a qualsiasi configurazione, e le 4 porte USB 3.0 funzionano perfettamente anche con chiavette, tastiere, hard disk esterni e lettori di schede. La velocità di trasferimento è ottima, e non ho mai riscontrato problemi di compatibilità o rallentamenti, nemmeno con più periferiche collegate contemporaneamente. L’hub è anche bello da vedere, con un design minimal ed elegante che si abbina bene a Macbook, desktop o laptop. Il fatto che sia plug & play lo rende praticissimo: lo colleghi e funziona, senza bisogno di driver o configurazioni.
