Don't hesitate to buy this book if you want to start appreciating Art.
I stumbled on this book in the library and knew immediately I had to own my own copy. It is a glorious book with a varied choice of chronologically arranged artworks. Of course, it is a subjective choice by the author but is a joy to hold, look at and read. There is a full description of each paining, a comment by a person of note and a biography of the artist. Additionally, the book contains useful and essential glossaries of artistic terms linked to the relevant work, and artistic movements. It is so pleasurable, accessible and readable; an ideal book for a beginner like myself or anyone who wants to better understand paintings.

Good book but why no Constable?
I took a lot of pleasure working my way through the paintings in this book considered to be 'The Paintings That Revolutionized Art". The prints are of good quality and the explanatry notes are informative. All such lists are of course subjective and I am no art historian but I was both surprised and disappointed that a painting by Constable was not included From what I have summized he revolutionised landscape painting. He also happens to be one of my favourite artists.

In good condition and quick to arrive
I am pleased with the good condition of this book. I this one for myself and a brand new one as a present for someone. The only difference is that this one feels like its pages have been turned. It arrived only 2 days after the other which came with prime
