Kind Regards, Wood Finishes Direct **Q: brand new worktops - do i 'normal' oil first?** A: Hi just apply 2 coats of the top oil or if needed you can use the Osmo wood protector first and then apply 2 coats of top oil as this helps protect the wood **Q: Can I use this on internal oak doors and banisters?** A: hello, I don't see any reason why this couldn't be used successfully on untreated banisters and doors, My daughter has oak worktops and I have used this on them and it is fine. It enriches the colour very slightly and it gives a good waterproof smooth finish if applied sparingly . Better to do a few light coats than just one more generous one, it then builds the finish more evenly and naturally. She has also used the Natural Osmo finish on her worktops ...which keeps the wood paler. Both work, depending on the finish you want. I have used the Natural Osmo oil on beech and it keeps it nice and pale. The Clear Osmo enriches the colour a little and does seem to be slightly more waterproof and stain resistant. Marvellous oil whichever one you choose, I wouldn't use anything else ....and have tried a few out there. **Q: I used liming wax to keep my pine kitchen worktop pale. Can I finish the worktop now with osmo top oil?** A: If the wax was done really recently I'm not sure how well the oil will go on - you might want to try a small test area first. If the wax is quite old it would be better. I'd definitely recommend giving it a sand first and you could also try white spirit before that to try and remove some of the wax. But oils and waxes are usually fairly compatible so it could work ok.
