Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest & Colouring Book: 1

I originally ordered Secret Garden, thinking that I would prefer it, but after waiting ages for it (it was out of print) i was sent a few sample pages of this one and ordered this one instead. Enchanted Forest is full of gorgeous designs on every page. It takes you on a journey through the forest, discovering animals and hidden objects along the way, until you unlock the key to the castle at the end, and unfold the final hidden pages. This would make a gorgeous present for your granddaughter, daughter, or for yourself, and I'm really surprised by how much I'm thoroughly enjoying colouring in these beautiful pages. Anyone creative will enjoy the choice and freedom of expression, bringing these designs to life and making them your own. Colouring is incredibly relaxing and calming. I am using the colouring pencils that pop up as the suggested ones here - the Staedtler pack of 24, which are high quality, yet affordable, with a great range of colours. The pages are thick and of high quality and have a slight waxy feel, so I imagine, judging by the reviews, that this would be the safer choice over Secret Garden if you wanted to use pens, as some of the reviewers of Secret Garden were disappointed by the quality and thickness of the paper. If you are wondering which of the two to buy, some reviewers who have purchased both, have suggested that they slightly prefer this one. I would thoroughly recommend this buy to anyone. Even If you are just slightly interested by colouring, definitely give this one a try. It's full of beautiful designs and you'll be surprised how much you enjoy colouring as an adult!

I bought this as a present for a family member with a set of 36 quality colouring pencils. I read its excellent reviews and wasn't disappointed by the quality of the paper and the wonderfully drawn pictures to colour in. I was very impressed and a bit jealous as I really wanted a try at an adult colouring book myself but had promised it as a present. The recipient was equally delighted with this book and is excited at the prospect of getting started. Although she is in her seventies she said it kind of takes her back to her childhood and school when she always loved colouring and drawing... The pictures in this book are beautiful and varied with some extremely detailed that will take an age to complete while others are smaller and less challenging. The themes are magical covering castles, animals and forest scenes obviously from the title. They certainly appeal and tempt you to get your colouring pencils out and begin. A worthwhile buy for all ages and an excellent starter colouring book for all the family to try.

Not used yet but each page printed in detail. Will keep me entertained. Beautiful pictures.

I chose this book as it was very in-depth and has lots of intricate pages to colour. There is also a story, goal to do throughout the book. The only negative thing i found was the book cover, on the inside, are leaves etc to colour in. I used gel pens and to my horror, found out that it never dried out (after waiting a full day) and it ended up smudging and ruining the coverlet. This is not the type of book to rush, and once it is completed will look fantastic. Would highly recommend buying this.

I am pretty new to colouring, and Johanna's name pops up everywhere, so I thought I would give her books a try. I have a little thin taster thing of hers which I got free with something which which was fine for what it was but it did not prepare me for the this book, which I only paid £5.99 for on Amazon. It comes in a really nice gatefold sleeve, with embossed gold highlights, underneath a very sturdy, thick brown cover with an intricate design. There's a title and a "this book belongs to" pages, with with a "wrap-around" designs. There's also a quest to solve as you progress through the book. The paper is a lovely creamy tone, which I think complements colours so much better than brighter white shades which beside your colours create too stark a contrast. The paper is thick, and has a very nice feel to it, a sheet of paper will be plenty underneath, but I always opt for a thin bit of card. The designs are on both sides of the page, and they're very good with lots of variety. There are so many little features and touches that Johanna could get away with not including for the price and I'm sure they'd still sell like hot cakes, however they make so much difference to the overall look and feel of the product. Overall I was blown away by it and I'm not easily impressed as so much you buy these days is disapointing. A beautiful, high quality product, and also great value for money. A rare thing indeed...

I simply love this book! The fact that you can colour in at your own leisure. The great fact that the Author not only has produced a 'relaxing/interesting colouring book', but inside are secret animals hidden away and you need to try and find them all! Also 9 secret 'tablets' to find, which 'unlock' the very last section. I simply love this book! Took it on holiday too, friends loved it too! I might have convereted them to buying one also hehe. The paper is very GOOD quality and thick. The printed ink is great too, nice thick black lines, not a poor print at all. Very impressed. Top end of my budget, but considering how carefully and neat I colour, Only on the 3rd double spread page, taking me a while to complete and don't always get chance to colour in when I want to. So started to make more time for me now :) I'd be happy to purchase more of these books! Well done Johanna Basford, I am one very happy customer. I love all of your graphic illustrated designs!
