THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE...
I purchased the mighty Storm Shield in March of 2013 after my previous umbrella disintegrated following one too many breezy and drizzly South Wales squalls (I'd also dropped some hog roast sandwich in it, but that's another story). I needed an umbrella that could withstand with rigours of the Welsh weather, specifically the windy and wet valleys; I was torn between the Storm Shield and one of those umbrellas with a katana handle, but after taking the auspices it was decided the Storm Shield would be the one. It speaks volumes that I've never felt moved to write a review for an item I've purchased before, but for this I am compelled to share my experiences. The Storm Shield has served me well over the past year; never once failing to fend off the violent gusts and erratic rain. The rubbery grip of the handle gives you confidence when wielding it in awful weather, the good size of the canvas provides excellent cover from rain; and the quality of the double-skinning is such that I've not had it turn inside-out, even during the most violent of gusts! It compares favourably against other umbrellas; a good friend and I were out walking with our respective umbrellas when nature decided to put our defences to the test! The lesser quality of his double-skinned umbrella buckled very early on, my good friend had to use electrical-tape to hold the umbrella up for the rest of our 20 mile walk, and had to cut through this tape anytime he needed to holster his cover. The Storm Shield scoffed at nature's challenge and held strong the entire way. Ask yourself, do you want to carry electrical tape and a knife with you everywhere in case your lesser umbrella is defeated by nature? I believe the Storm Shield also has uses as a divining rod which can help interpret the wishes of the Gods. Only today was I out for a lengthy walk, my planned route led me up a large hill over the back of a valley to a small hamlet then onto home. The weather held for most of the day, but as I began the ascent the weather broke and a fierce storm was unleashed. The rain lashed and the winds howled; I could feel the Storm Shield urging me to turn back but I fought it until I neared the top of the hill... It was then I realised the hopelessness of the journey and acquiesced to the Storm Shield's subtle hints to turn around. As I descended the hill the weather calmed, and by the time I was back on the main road the clouds had parted and some blue sky could be seen. By listening to the Storm Shield I had appeased the Gods and my journey home was clear along the main road. This powerful umbrella is spoken of in hushed tones amongst colleagues at work, it has protected many a head from the wet on the journey to the supermarket next door. Alas, one of my colleagues has recently purchased a Storm Shield for himself and now I have the fear. We hear the distant rumble of thunder and we know that one day our paths will cross in the rain, the Storm Shields will be drawn and we will be overcome by the desire for battle; for there can be only one...

Excellent Umbrella
Although I've only had to use the umbrella once so far since receiving it, it has already paid for itself and then some. As anyone who lives in Edinburgh knows, the winds and rain can be quite troublesome when walking around. Last week, the winds here were atrociously high speed and, when coupled with torrential rains, made it difficult to walk around with the old umbrella I had and stay dry (In fact, it broke). So, I pulled out this umbrella and gave it a try. Although it was bucked around a bit by the wind, it generally held its own and managed to keep me relatively dry. The fibreglass construction is well built and lightweight. My only complaint about this umbrella is that the cover shipped with it is extremely hard to get back on once removed. I've relegated it to a spot in my backpack and not thought about it since. The umbrella is slightly large, but well worth the space if you can manage it.

Dry times
2nd one we have purchased after having the first one for a number of years. Used mainly for watching the youngest play rugby in the cold months. It's not invincible but withstands a good beating. Its big but not over big.

Very confident with Fulton Stormshield Mens Umbrella
Having purchased a "brolly" in the city and with only a walk around the next corner to have it blow back in my face and beyond repair, I was determined that this spur-of-the-moment type purchase should end. With a decent umbrella for men in mind then, it was off to Amazon and soon concluded that "Fulton" had the pedigree for producing quality umbrella's and all that remained was a matter of choice. I chose "Stormshield for Men" in blue and navy. I selected this colour for should I leave it behind I would be fairly confident that if it were raised by anyone other than the owner I would recognise it and approach with some confidence; destinctive, is how I would describe it and I haven't seen another like it yet, although that might change. It came in two days well packaged in a strong cardboard tube. At first glance it has that mark of quality with "Stormshield" emblazoned in white lettering on the outher sheath. The sheath has two small loops top and bottom that I found most useful when I attached a strap with a clip at either end that allowed me to carry the umbrella with the strap slung over my shoulder. I found this the most convenient way to carry the umbrella when out for a brisk long walk and with the expectation of rain only. I would suggest the Stormshield is not intended to be used as a walking stick. Be mindful that this is a substantial well constructed umbrella and as such is no light-weight. When opened up and fully extended over the head you will always be aware of its presence as you face in to the wind and rain. This is serious protection for up to two persons but I would suggest common sense is advised. And even though "Stormshield" is the name, who would want to do battle with a storm and try and hold your ground with this big shield. This is a fine umbrella and as an OAP I won't be testing it in any storm, it might just get the better of me.

No doubt, the best umbrella, strong and design to handle strong winds. Instead to reverse and break like the cheap one. This one has opening all around in the middle to allow the wind pressure to escape. Recommended, cheap broken umbrella period is over.
