Gardman A01158 Squirrel Baffle Bird Feeding Station, Clear, 12.5 x 14.5 x 4 cm

It did unfortunately crack easily but it still works ok and has been the only solution to stop squirrels and rats (!) heading up the bird feeder. Easy to clean with a long hosepipe as it does get a lot of bird traffic so you must keep it cleaned regularly.

Ordered this to stop squirrels stealing from bird feeders, after I found one squirrel hanging upside down, like a giant furry slug, eating all the bird seed! The clear plastic baffle is quire big and easy to fit. It does the job perfectly and there are no more squirrel raids in my garden. It does need cleaning regularly to remove bird poop, but it's quite easy to do this with an old scrubbing brush and some bird hygiene spray. Highly recommended to keep squirrels away.

This is an amusing piece of kit, until the squirrel works out how to launch itself at the feeder from something close by. At first they fling themselves straight at it, only to slide off helplessly. This makes them very irritated! I made the mistake of attaching this to the top of a plastic feeder. Once the little blighters had worked out how to launch themselves straight at it from a nearby bay tree, they snapped off all four of the feeder perches. So, back to the drawing board and a new, metal feeder. (Plastic feeders also just get chewed round the feeder holes by the squirrels who want faster access to the seeds.) For a while I added a small cotton bag with some moth balls to the top, which actually did seem to keep them at bay - apparently they hate the smell. When I forgot to put it back after re-filling the feeder, back came the squirrels. If you don't have moth balls, cat hair may also work the same way. Another downside to the baffle (if placed on a feeder under a tree) is that the birds poo on it, so be careful when removing it to top up the feeder.

It works! It actually works and I am so excited! It has almost paid for itself already in what I have saved on bird feeding products. I use it to stop squirrels from running up the pole to get to the feeders. I see them every day trying to figure out how get passed it, but with no success. It's been in position for about 6 weeks now, and not once has it been defeated. Some tips - make sure it is placed high enough so they can't leap from the ground onto the top of it. Even though they might slide off, place the higher the better. If a squirrel can do a flying jump from a tree or fence onto the top of the feeding station, a second one to place over the top would help. I moved the feeding station, so this is not necessary. I work from home with my desk overlooking the garden, so enjoy all the nature visiting, including the squirrels - they are very entertaining. I feed them too, but just not near the bird feeder, they just go through the food so quickly. At least they can't raid the bird food when they have scoffed all theirs! Fantastic product, it does the job perfectly and I am very happy with it.

Easy to fit and very durable. Our last one survived everything the weather could throw at it for four years! The squirrels quickly gave up.

I recently watched a squirrel in my garden jump about a metre to climb the metal pole of my bird feeder. Something needed to be done. This squirrel baffle is a hemisphere of tough plastic which slides up the bird feeder pole and is fixed in place by a screw which clamps onto the pole. There are adapters to allow for different sized round poles - 12mm, 22mm and 25.5mm. After fitting it, I waited for a squirrel to try his luck. He leapt up the pole to be confronted by the the plastic baffle. He dropped down and tried his luck a few times, to no avail. He now seems to have headed out to easier lunches. Gardman Universal Squirrel Baffle is a squirrel deterrent, but does get covered in bird poo! This device might work suspended from a tree branch over a bird feeder - but there are too many variables for me to say it would work. I prefer Squirrel Buster Mini Bird Feeder or Nuttery Squirrel Proof Globe Bird Seed Feeder type feeders for hanging from branches. But again, depends on the location. If the nut burglar can hang from another branch to attack the feeder, all bets are off.

I used the baffle to stop squirrels raiding the birds feeder. Our squirrels are very smart - a few times they brought the feeder down and dragged it away. Also, a full feeder would be emptied in a day. After installing the baffle, the birds feeder lasts for weeks and there is sometimes a very disappointed squirrel under the feeder post looking at me with disapproval. Delivery and packaging were good. It is easy to install and has a lot of flexibility on a type of a post which could be used and there is also hanging adapter. It is a bit expensive, but the quality is good and it does the job of keeping the squirrels away.

Il prodotto è ottimo. Il materiale è veramente di prima qualità. Purtroppo mi è arrivato in uno scatolo troppo basso e, durante il viaggio, deve aver preso un colpo di troppo. L'ho restituito, ma conto di riacquistarlo quanto prima.

Habe das Teil als Regenschutz für meine Erdnusssäule bestellt, gerade bei dem Wetter im Moment habe ich arge Probleme damit, dass mit der Erdnussbruch das Schimmeln anfängt. Nur leider bringt die Kuppel fast gar nichts. Die Säule hängt viel zu tief drunter und gerade Schlagregen und Regen von der Seite durchnässen die Erdnüsse immernoch, die Kuppel müsste viel weiter runter reichen. An Stellen wo es windgeschützter ist und der Regen nur von oben kommt mag es super funktionieren und ist für den Preis auch echt unschlagbar, aber für mich hhat es leider fast gar keinen Nutzen, daher nur 3 Sterne.
