These complement the other items in the range from Just Slate perfectlyThe slate is well cut but with sufficient 'imperfections' to make them unique.  The edges look quite roughly cut, but this in no way reduce their appeal, it certainly isn't a product for someone who wants absolute crisp edges - these are a little more rough hewn..They are backed with a layer of soft felt-like material which protects the table against scratches, and are well finished.  The deep blue-black colour makes the plates etc stand out superbly.The slate is split, not sawn so don't expect a flat polished surface - these have a definite tactile surface!All in all I'd say these are a really nice complement to any dining table and not only do they protect from plate marks, but look good too.  If there is a downside, I'd say they might cause scratches on highly polished cutlery - but a linnen table mat underneath that the knives and forks go on solves that!

The slate placemats are very well made, with an attractive “rough cut” edge. They are backed with felt to prevent scratching.Well worth the money!
