Sigma USB Dock Nikon

The dock is well made and does the job it was purchased for. My only negative side is - it's probably only used once per Sigma lens and after that, in the cupboard. I am not sure how much a Shop would charge for setting up your lens, But, for the price if someone wants to borrow it Sorry it is not for free. Harsh, but honest.

How cool is this ? Sigma giving tunability to their lens owners via this USB dock for the computer is just great. Having their 150-600mm I discovered you could have this USB device by SIGMA whereby you can adjust the focussing speeds and tracking compensation in different axis. Perfect to fine tune vibration reduction and focussing speed/direction priority to your needs. i.e top to bottom of lens of side to side etc andis a valuable and appreciated tool. Being very compact at not much larger than the connecting bayonet of the base of lens itself so it can easily fit into your camera bag without sacrificing much space so can be further tweaked in the field if needed or just setup and left at home with your main p.c.. Being reasonably priced for a device of this type is a bonus and should help ensure those SiGMA lens owners who can try it out for themselves, another great piece of SIGMA kit.

An absolutely essential asset if you want to get the best out of the acclaimed Art series Sigma lenses. You will also need a lens focus calibration tool chart to go with the USB dock. It's a great pity that Sigma don't for whatever reason properly calibrate their optics, you would expect them to be spot on having invested reasonable cash for their premium Art series. The process works well but it's important to invest some time getting this right, perhaps 3+ hrs for a prime and considerable more for the zoom. Once calibrated the lenses are truly stunning, so yes worth the effort but a real shame Sigma don't invest a little more time in getting the optic to the customer in first class optical condition from the onset!

the first thing it did was update the firmware on my 150-600mm contemporary and it focused twice as fast and image stabilisation was way better after, autofocus calibration is a time consuming but simple operation, it took me 3 hours to get the lens sharp as a pin and the front focus v back focus variation through the focal length's and distance were quite considerable varying from minus 12 to plus 10 and all points in between, it's like having a new lens, faster focusing, more stable and accurate, if you own a compatable lens it's a must have, very happy with it, one niggle is the usb connection, it's a tiny flimsy affair so make sure you get the lead the right way up

Great piece of kit but I didn't realise how much work goes into calibrating still. Plus its only done to one camera as settings of the lens are changed so will have to check on other camera... I have ordered a calliberation card / stand thing to help me gauge focus better. There are lots of youtube tutorials on how to do this... Going to be a long job but I have read lots of good reviews.

My 35mm f/1.4 was suffering from such bad front focus I'd stopped using it. The D800 AF fine tune didn't even make a dent in it. Decided to try this as a last resort. A little annoying to have to pay extra just to try and sort it, but boy, am I glad I did. After updating the lens firmware I checked out the focus settings the lens already had. What's odd is that the settings were pretty similar to what I ended up with. I did initially reset all the values to 0 and re-wrote the firmware before running through the calibration. Maybe that sorted it, who knows. Anyway, after calibration it's now a different lens. I have an AF Tune value of 0 on the D800, but the lens is razor sharp at all distances and apertures I've tested so far. So, in summary if you have an issue with front or back focussing, bite the bullet and get this. You won't be disappointed.

Works perfectly, easy to use and great quality

As the name suggest this is the docking link which enables you to carry out firmware updates for your Sigma lens. But it does offer more that just firmware updates. Depending on your lens it allows you to create user setting which you can upload to the lens. It also allows you to change a number of other features of the lens (again this depends on which lens you are using). It is required for firmware updates but as for the other features its not something I am using. Well not yet anyway.

Its working in my sigma art 35mm 1.4. Its plug and play
