It covers the gaps that remain between the device and the edge of the circular hole when installed in glass, among other things. We’ve had some building work done and the flap was moved from the old wooden door into the new French doors. In this process, we managed to lose the screws!! Customer service at SureFlap were fantastic. I went to their website, left a message with all the flap’s and my details, within 3 working days the new screws were delivered to my door (free of charge). The cat, who has historically had a lot of problems with cat flaps (I previously had magnetic ones and he struggled to operate them properly coming in, and occasionally got stuck after collecting bits of rusty metal on his magnet), did not take to it immediately. He knew what to do but was extremely suspicious - I got the impression he found the whole thing way too easy. But after a couple of days he really got into it and now he loves his new cat flap and no longer only goes out to use the 'facilities'. For the first time in about 3 years he's actually spending more time outside than in during the day. If you're torn between this cat flap and a magnetic one, let me help you out: had I known how fantastic this flap was, I'd have bought it years ago.
