Rubber Soul [VINYL]

Their first proper album in my opinion and what a beauty it is. No filler and all the tunes penned and arranged by the group. The harmonies and instrumentation is a cut above anything I've heard from 1965 and is a clear indication of future quality to come. Great quality vinyl, wonderful remaster.

This is the album where the Beatles finally reached maturity as artists. No covers of US R&B/Motown acts. Every track was written by the Fab 4. The album sounds terrific- filled with iconic tunes that helped the Beatles become the greatest pop/rock band of all time. Original, innovate and clever hooks combine with "the 5th Beatle" George Martin's production techniques- pushing the envelope and developing new recording techniques. I was a small boy when this was released and some of my earliest memories were formed listening to this album and is part of the soundtrack to my formative years. Every record collection should include a copy of this album.

Love this Beatles album. This is the second time I have purchased this LP. The first time was when I purchased it way back in the 60s. ( It was a Mono copy ). That was 60 plus years ago. Now I had decided to buy an up to date copy with Stereo mixes. I am not disappointed but rather delighted with the excellent sound quality received from this disc. I can now feel as though I am reliving my first time experience of when I first heard this LP.

The Beatles' 6th album is largely considered one of their first genuine masterpieces. Sure, previous records were of course groundbreaking at the time and still are, but Rubber Soul is the first consistently great release, that feels more like an album than a collection of songs on one disc - in my opinion anyway! 'Rubber Soul' is also one of the few Beatles albums with a consistent sound all the way through. What I mean is; you can justifiably label each song as folk rock / melodic rock n roll, whereas other releases tended to have at least one massive curve ball somewhere, sticking out like a lightning rod amongst the others, e.g. the Proto Heavy Metal of 'Helter Skelter' or the...whatever 'Revolution 9' is from 'The White Album,' and many more. In some ways, it's the first 'serious' Beatles album. Song wise, they're all very short and sweet and instantly memorable. The only drawback of this album is it's consistency. Songs are so similarly paced and stick the the same blueprint, that there isn't too much variation.

Bought as a gift for my mum, her favourite beatles song is "In my life" so she was very happy with this record. No issues with the record either.

Boa mixagem, disco excelente.

L'album de transition de fin 65, influencé par Bob Dylan et le folk rock. On passe au stade supérieur avant les véritables chefs-d'oeuvre des "années studio". Ici la version anglaise pour compléter ma collection qui comprenait déjà les pressages mono et stereo français et le pressage américain (qui malgré ses 11 titres au lieu de 14 est un des meilleurs albums des BEATLES en version US). La sitar sur "Norwegian Wood" marquera durablement l'histoire du rock et John Lennon fait de l'introspection dans "In my life". Superbe album!
