**Q: How do I remove the thumbturn side for painting my door**
A: The outer circle is just a trim . at the underneath of the thumb turn there should be a little square cut out , at this point put a paint scraper flat against the door and use a flat bladed screwdriver to leaver off the trim cover . The idea of the paint scraper is to stop the screwdriver digging into and damaging the door

Bought this to replace a 60 year old bathroom door lock thumb turn system. The mechanism for the old one is still solid so all I needed was a “Spindle sleeve” to make this fit since the newer models are nearly half the width of the old (guess they really don’t make them like they used to). The new spindle rod that comes with this is only 5mm and the old sturdy one was 9mm - took a bit of research to realise that “spindle sleeves” are even a thing.Works perfectly and looks great with the Matt black door knobs I also bought.
