I usually coat them all in a bowl and then dribble what’s left in the bowl over them but I just threw it all in the pan last night. They’d been sitting a while so had gone a bit dry, it was the easiest baster I’ve ever used. Nice and wide compared to my old round bristle brush and the silicone bristles were pliable so moved round the potatoes. I didn’t have to worry about losing bristles which is great. It was also easy to clean. I don’t think my old wooden one ever gets washed properly as it’s thick bristle so I’m glad that this one felt clean. I love how the end is angled so it doesn’t touch the work surface when it’s lying there however when I picked it up after it had been sitting there whilst the food was cooking and we had our tea, I noticed the oil still contained in the brush, was all over the work surface. That probably wouldn’t happen if I’d used butter, but it tells me you can’t leave it for long. An old bristle brush would hold it, probably because it doesn't hold that much like this one does. Next time I’ll give it a swill after I’ve used it I’m not sure if the angled head is to stop your work surface getting greasy or just to stop the brush picking up contamination. But I’m very impressed overall. I’ll try it with butter next week when I make a bread and butter pudding.
