Great value pack
If you're dealing with a rat problem and need a reliable solution, the Big Cheese Ultra Power Ready-Baited Rat Trap is worth considering Iโve seen this had a low rating, but for me these did work and worked well.Put these trap on the mice or rat run, but keep them way from very young children so they canโt put there fingers on them. The traps are highly effective at catching rats. The ready-baited design means you can use them straight out of the packaging, saving time and hassle. I found that they are powerful enough to swiftly kill rats, ensuring effective pest control. Setting up the traps is straightforward. There's no need to handle messy bait or worry about placing it correctly; everything is pre-baited and ready to use. This makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, adapting well to various environments where rats might be a problem. Made from durable plastic, the traps are robust and can withstand outdoor conditions without deteriorating quickly. The design is simple yet functional, with a sensitive mechanism that ensures rats are caught effectively. While effective, the traps prioritize safety with a design that minimizes the risk of accidental activation. They are also easy to dispose of, which is crucial for maintaining hygiene after catching pests. Considering their effectiveness and ease of use, the Big Cheese Ultra Power Rat Traps offer good value for money. The twinpack ensures you have multiple traps on hand to tackle larger infestations or cover multiple areas. I've been impressed with the Big Cheese Ultra Power Rat Traps. Good for smaller rats
I've used the mouse versions which are generally very effective. Need to bait with peanut butter ideally, but they're easy to set and place without setting off. Can struggle to kill a bigger rat, thankfully the ones it helped take out were not fully grown. Need a more powerful one for big rats.

Great success with this
These are better than the standard rat traps. I've had great success with one of these in my garden inside the big cheese bait station made for rats. theyre not flawless. I do hae a 75% success rate catching rats with this unlike the standard quick set rat traps with just a bar. The standard rat trap I have a 15% success rate.

Unfortunately no rats caught!
I live near fields and never really been troubled by rats before. Then we had new people move in next door who have been feeding hedgehogs, suddenly we've noticed rats in the garden. I ordered these traps as I want to feed the birds and there is a rat (or rats) that keeps appearing and eats the food on the ground. The traps are good quality but unfortunately the rats haven't been tempted by these traps, even when my husband put bird food in it. I stopped putting the bird food down, but the rat just walks straight past it. It has however caught a couple of field mice which I don't want caught. I'm afraid they didn't work for me. Might have to look into poison next.

Does the job !!
This is a good product and it has successfully caught the rat that was going under my decking. I have been very stressed by it all as I have a dog and diseases from the rat are not good to put it lightly to him, let alone to humans. This is an easy trap to fill with peanut butter (that is what attracted my rat) or any other bait that is recommended, but don't overfill as you have to be sure that the rat doesn't just get part way in and reaches the bait too easily. The rat has to put its head in properly to reach the bait. This is a strong spring and it does snap the trap shut quite ferociously. Also very importantly, TIE the damn thing down, or as someone else suggested, put inside a bait box as it is quite a light trap and as with my rat, he must have reversed in order to try and free himself, and therefore in the location mine was in he managed drag the trap and slip down a a gap next to the built in water feature tub. I also thought that ( perhaps too innocently), that it killed the rat outright, but alas no, and it was rather upsetting to hear the rattling of the trap as I guess he was in death throws trying to free himself. I hate killing anything and would have preferred to have got a humane trap, but I could not have got to the next stage of releasing it without having to drive out to the countryside, and I do not have a car. It is though, a clean kill,in as much as there was no mess or blood, and as far as I can make out,it probably breaks the neck I guess and traps it. If you have rodent problem, I am confident that this will do the job for you. It got mine and I am still leaving the others out for a while in case there is another rat lurking. Things to remember: place the trap where other wild life will not be tempted to try and get the bait, like hedgehogs, cats, squirrels, and even ground feeding birds, that would be a tragedy. I have ordered two more as I have a big garden,so I am ok with the effectiveness of them, For those reviewers who put things like ''it never caught anything'' patience is the key, it can take a week or more depending on the circumstances,, or if you never catch anything, maybe you don't have a problem with rodents so much as you thought. I took all the bird feeders down and removed all bird feeding equipment as recommended by the RSPB after I saw this rat, as they are attracted to the fallen bird seed, and nuts and anything else that may drop to the floor that you feed the birds on. I watched my rat eating the seed dropped by the birds directly underneath the hanging bird feeder, so this had to go, and that was a big disappointment. Anyway, hope this is helpful and they are not too expensive and at least worth a try I think you will find they are good even though they don't look meaty enough to do the job, I found them quite capable in the end.

Avoid. Waste of money.
I ordered 2 of these and one of their trap kits in an enclosed, lockable box. 1. Night - hadn't been touched. 2. Night - both had sprung, bait was gone, no dead rats. 3. Night - unable to reset. Seems like the mechanism was damaged by the traps going off. The lockable bait station with enclosed trap hasn't been touched at all, but the trap is the same, so I'm not hopeful, this one will work. I purchased some Roshield traps on Amazon at the same time. These caught rats EVERY night. Same easy to use setting mechanism. I'm going to try and return the faulty traps and purchase more Roshield ones.

Great trap kills Gustavo the Nazi Rat
I was recommended this make by a colleague (he has caught over 20 rats in the last month). Checking the reviews here helped me make up mind and I went ahead and purchased. Everything came propmptly and then it was time to lay the traps. We only had one mouse which I think the cat had bought in but as she is no killer it was left to run riot behind the TV unit. I placed one of these behind the sub woofer with a little bit of an Italian Plasmon biscuit on top as extra bait (we had found a nibbled at packge so we knew these were like by our rat kin). We had named the rat Gustavo and afer checking every couple of minutes for the first ten minutes or so to see if little Gustavo had been caught I decided it was best to leave it alone and let it happen. Within 2 hours it happened: [THE FOLLOWING IS A PRESUMPTION OF WHAT HAPPENED] Gustavo woke up late that afternoon after a hard night of scratching at the walls and nibbling at wires. He thought back to the attempts of the previous day and how a bucket, bowl of cheese and prop on a string had been set up by the overlords of domain in which he lived. How foolish they are, he thought, such a meagre trap would never catch Gustavo, National Rat Jousting overall winner 2014 and 2015. Granted some of his friends may fall prey to such a trick but Gustavo was no mere rat. No one knows exactly who Gustavo's parents were. Some say he is a halfbreed of Unicorn and Owl trapped in a Rats body. The real truth, however, is much more sinister. In the 1940s the Nazis tried to breed a super rat. A rat so terrifying it would be able to take over London within 3 weeks. Numerous mental and physical tests were conducted on rats slowly filtering out the weak until they had their rat champions, so is the lineage of Gustavo. After the war his rat grandparents escaped and, with a twist of irony, ended up on the shores of the River Thames in London. Given the hardship they had seen, they had not taste for bloodshed and cruelty and never embarked on the Nazi grand plan of destroying London. Instead they got to work, they built a home and started to make a name for themselves with the well to do around the Raterloo area. Here the family flourished, using their impressive mental ability and stunning physical attributes they grew both their wealth and their family. When Gustavo was born in the 1980s the strong gene was still in the family, all be it slightly diluted, however Gustavo had the full set. He truly was the first real Nazi rat since his grandparents. A childhood of good education, Croquet medals and string of sweethearts behind him, Gustavo ventured away from Raterloo to the humble village of Hackney. It was here that he would live his final days. He had just set up a good butchers which was attracting punters from across London and recently taken residence in a basement flat. Yet despite his cunning and guile his arrogance had started to swell and he cared little from hiding from the human overlords and their sorry excuse for a cat. And so it was that morning, Gustavo nonchalantly strolled from behind the DVD cases towards the ledge down to the carpet. He could see the sub woofer and the wires but then his little nose began to twitch. "A little piece of Plasmon, for me?" he squeaked and trotted off to this bounteous find. It was a public holiday and so his butchery was closed. This little morsel would allow him to go back home, put his feet up and watch Die Hard 2 on the telly. But, as he approached the Plasmon he decided to have a little taste, just for breakfast. As his little face approached the Plasmon he could smell its sweet goodness, his little tongue darted out and was just about to take its first taste when ... It was at this point that I heard a sound, about 2 hours after leaving the trap. I went to check behind the sub woofer and there was little Gustavo head first in the sprung trap, his lifeless body seemed grey and cold. I was expecting some blood or an exploded head but it was actually very clean and easy. I picked up the trap, emptied Gustavo in to a carrier bag and took him out to the bin. The trap has been reset just in case Gustavo had some children or hookers in there with him. Our rubbish was collected this morning so he has gone to his final resting place - some Hackney landfill area. God bless Gustavo and thank you 'Big Cheese' for quickly and efficiently killing the nazi rat.

Questionable Reliability
Living in the country means we have about 20 traps all over the house. Ive used these for around 10 years and when they work, theyre fine, but the reliability of them is very questionable. The mechanisms dont seem to last very long and become useless. Its not even wear and tear but more a question of age and we come across many traps were the bait has been eaten but its not activated. I obviously test them when i re-load but i no longer have any faith in them. Back to more traditional traps.

It worked!
Caught the rat in our ceiling within an hour of putting the trap down. Used some bacon fat and peanut butter in the bait trap as added treat. Trap worked 100%. So relieved!
