Will this allow me to be a rock star?

This will help considerably but the main prerequisites to being a rock star are: being either impossibly pretty or unfeasibly grotesquely ugly, tight leather trousers, a suitably raddled-looking girlfriend and a heavy drug habit. Nail these first and then buy the pedal.

Is it compatable for bass guitars ?

Yes it is. I use mine on a bass and it sounds good.

I’ve bought this for my other half but it seems there’s no where to put a 9V battery in it. Am I right?

There are 2 plastic pip/ hinges holding the footswitch on. Use a pen to push them in and remove the foot pad and there is the battery compartment. This should be described in the instructions.

Will this help with pickup noise? I use a guitar with P90s, which generate a lot of hum and noise.

Kind of. With a low threshold setting and low decay it'll just mute the sounds of hum when not playing. It will definitely help though.
