Great German Engineering... Excellent Scooter for Adults!
I ordered this after checking out loads of reviews, and figured this would suit my needs the most. The Hudora Big Wheel RX 205 Scooter is a dynamically-built piece of German engineering, and arrived so much quicker than I thought!! On first glance, it is a SOLID-LOOKING, WELL-CONSTRUCTED kit. The features are so well thought out, they even have a velcro sticker to tidy up the loose bit of shoulder strap should you not need to use it. That shows me how committed Hudora is in ensuring customers get the best out of a scooter like the RX 205... The little touches. When I first tried it, I noticed how smooth the wheels were and how great the riding experience was. The scooter looked good and felt sturdy, with its big solid wheels going over bumps easily enough. The collapsible features and the little scooter stand really impressed me! I didn't like how the end rubber bits on the handlebar keep falling out (although thoughtfully attached with elasticated string), so I just followed what some others had done; I superglued the end bits in! Problem solved. The brake is really easy to find (and step on), and once you've got the knack of it, it's really simple. And when the scooter is collapsed, it's so light you can just carry it in your hands or on your shoulder! Love it. One thing I did customize was the wheel bearings. The factory defaults are ABEC-5, and I felt it was quite hard work having to kick more to travel a specific distance. Thus I ordered some ABEC-9 bearings (x4) (they go up to ABEC-11) and once replaced (easy, look on youtube tutorials), the scooter literally glides and so much less work is needed to make it go the same distance as before. The higher rotation bearings definitely make the scooter roll a longer distance before having to kick again (considering a relatively SMOOTH pavement with no wind resistance or rough surfaces). I've used the scooter on roads as well (where pavements/walkways are just not available), and it seems perfectly fine. However as a precautionary and maintenance measure, I would advise to tighten your screws and bolts every few weeks to make sure they haven't come loose. Rattling is common in scooters anyway and for the Hudora it really isn't that obvious unless you're going over rougher surfaces. I'm keen to find out if Hudora do off-road soft rubber wheels with grooves as well for customization purposes, cos' with that will go really well on rougher terrain. Also, if you lift your scooter up onto a curb, PLEASE MAKE SURE you really lift it up or put a foot under the plate; if not careful you WILL DEFINITELY hit your shin/ankle as the footplate swings round quite a bit! I've had loads of bruises in the first week from being careless, but now I'm a seasoned pro already haha. Overall, this is a GREAT SCOOTER; my husband really wants one now and I've already influenced my girlfriend to buy one too!! We both love our scooters!!

Well worth being in the 'Dog House' for.
I bought this as a replacement for a Razor branded scooter that had come to the end of its well used life. My son wanted a large wheel scooter rather than the small wheels he had used previously. Not being in a position to waste money on a mediocre scooter that would probably not be as durable, I researched the available options and settled on this product. We placed the order and within the week it had arrived from Germany. Upon inspection it was evident that this is an exceptionally well built and designed bit of kit. Assembly was painless thanks to the very well designed ingenious folding mechanism. The wheels ran freely thanks to the quality of the bearings used to mount the wheels to the axle. You could literally breath on the wheels and they would turn effortlessly. The finish of the paint, transfers and clear coatings on the metalwork is excellent as is the non slip coating on the metal deck. When I ordered this my wife had kittens and I was in the doghouse for spending this amount of money on 'just a scooter' I have tried over the last 20 odd years I have been with my little nest of vipers to convince her that buying quality and paying a bit more initially pays dividends by saving on replacements in the future. This still escapes her indoors reasoning when purchasing. So I expected a chastising and she didn't dissapoint! Women eh? Can't live with em, Can't live with em! Anyway, I feel vindicated in purchasing this item for our son as by the quality of the item I think that in 3 years or so I can be quietly confident in using the term, 'I told you so' to my beloved. This does come with the caveat that I still won't be right in my wifes eyes, I gave up any hope of being right even if I was about 19.5 years ago. I remember the moment of realisation as if it was yesterday. But that's another story. I forgot to add that you also get a brochure with the scooter showing the spare parts you can purchase. If you want to pimp it, there are various options for that as well. Anyway, in summary. This is an excellent, well made scooter that is durable and certainly fit for purpose, and in my opinion but not my wifes, well worth the £70 ish asking price including delivery. If your torn between purchases then opt for this one, it's very, very good!

A Practical, No-Nonsense Review from a Regular Rider
What I like: 1. Smooth and comfortable to ride Large wheels make a noticeable difference. Whether I’m on uneven paths, cobbles or tarmac, it glides along without jarring my hands or knees. It’s much smoother than I expected. 2. Lightweight but sturdy The scooter is surprisingly light — around 4kg — but it doesn’t feel flimsy. I can easily carry it into a café or onto the bus without breaking a sweat. It’s solid enough to hold me and one of my kids (although pushing is harder) so it feels solid when I’m riding. 3. Folds up quickly and easily It's simple to fold. No complicated levers or fiddling about. It folds down in a matter of seconds and tucks neatly under the stairs or under my desk. 4. Adjustable handlebar height The adjustable handlebars are handy, especially since my daughter occasionally borrows it. It’s comfortable for both of us, though if you’re very tall (over 6 foot), you might find it a bit low. I am 5'7" and it's absolutely fine. 5. Handy extras Little touches like the kickstand, rear brake, and carrying strap make a big difference when you actually use this day to day. It feels like it was designed by people who understand what riders need. Things That Could Be Better 1. It can get a little rattly After a few weeks of regular use, I did notice a bit of rattling coming from the folding mechanism and the brake area, especially over rougher patches. It’s nothing major and was tightened up and working fine, but worth knowing. 2. Might be a stretch for very tall riders As mentioned, the handlebar height suits me just fine, and I’m 5'7". My 6'1" husband tried it and said it was okay, but not perfect for longer rides. 4. Brake wear I’ve read some people mentioning the rear brake plate can wear down over time if you use it heavily, especially if you’re a heavier rider. I haven’t experienced this yet, but it’s something I’ll keep an eye on. If you’re a middle-aged woman like me who wants a reliable, easy-to-use, and comfortable scooter for city life or neighborhood errands, this is a fantastic option. It rides smoothly, folds easily, and is light enough to carry around when needed. It’s not without its little quirks (what product isn’t?), but with a bit of occasional tightening and care, it holds up well.

Fantastic for old and young
Got this (as many adults seem to be doing) so that I can get out with my kids on the weekend and join in the fun. Well if you are one of those dads (or mums) than this is for you! This is a very sturdy and well produced bit of kit, with an amazing patent pending folding mech (first I've seen like this on the market), but I wouldn't expect anything less form German Engineering. It is extremely light (lighter than my daughters scooter at half the size) the handle bars extend to a very comfortable height (I'm 5 ft 10 1/2 and its on the 2nd to last notch) and it flys (just a couple of pushes and you can roll for quite some distance). The only issue I have with this scooter is that my daughter was so amazed, that she just wanted to ride mine (the bars go right down to a usable level for my 5 year old daughter who is of average height). So I ended up carrying her scooter all day whilst I watched her whizzing up and down on mine :) This is why I gave it a 5 star educational score as my daughter is in the early days of riding a scooter and found this very easy to ride. But I've noticed you can get these in pink, green and blue so I'll be putting in an order for another 2 over the coming weeks for the kids. I wasn't keen on the red design, but most of the red are stickers and can be peeled off easily revealing a nice matt black finish. The only painted bits of red are on the foot break, but these look OK when the rest of the stickers are removed. But to be honest, I'd ride a pink one if it meant having the fun I've had today... seriously I cannot recommend this scooter enough. NB: I'm 5ft 10 1/2 and weigh about 14 stone. This is absolutely fine for me.

I'm now a Scooter Commuter! (With important maintenance update)
I'm a 26 year old young man who lives on 3rd fIoor of a house just the edge of the city centre (of Cardiff), and I've long maligned the fact that I didn't have anywhere to store a bike. Then about a month ago I met someone my age with a scooter and my eyes were opened to the convenience! Speeding through the city centre on my 2km journey to work (12-15 mins depending on energy levels) and yet both portable and storable. So I set out to buy an appropriate scooter, and after a lot of searching decided on the Hudora Big Wheel. And I'm very glad I did. The big wheels were the feature that sold it to me, and they've proved very useful. They deal with bumps and paving stones etc far far better than a small wheeled scooter, which is essential on my route through the city centre in the morning. The wheels are also surprisingly grippy, so you won't skid *too much* on a wet day (got to watch out for splashes up the back of your legs though!) . It's fine in the damp, but I have to watch what shoes I'm wearing otherwise they slide all over the place! The steering column locking feature is ingenious and very useful, feels very secure in use and has a satisfying click to it when you set up the scooter. And it all folds away in a compact enough size to carry around and stick under the desk at work. The bad bits: as another review mentions, it does swing about a bit if you lift it off the ground while walking (up onto a pavement for example or up the stairs to my flat) so do expect a couple of bruises on your ankles until you get used to that. The foot plate is maybe 1cm too narrow for my taste, so it's a delicate balancing act sometimes to get both feet on it. In fairness though it's got a bigger footplate than most scooters on the market, and it's a minor problem. You do get a few odd looks in the street, but I'm a bit eccentric so I kinda like being the suited guy on the scooter! In summary, I love the Hudora scooter, its holding up well after 40 miles of use. Oh and my friend who introduced me to scooters is now rather jealous of my big wheels! UPDATE: Following two months (and probably 100+ miles) use, I just had my first accident (minor fortunately). One of the bolts which holds the bracket between the base board and the steering column failed as I went over a bump (see this page for the bolt in question: [...]). The scooter lost all its rigidity, and I went backwards ending up on my bum. Fortunately the only injury was to my pride! Upon inspection, the thread on one side of the bolt had disappeared. I'm not sure whether or not it was faulty or had naturally unscrewed over the course of use, but I suspect I may have been riding dangerously for a while. I stand by my original review, this is a great scooter, but I'd advise regularly checking and tightening that bolt, you'll need an Allen key. The other bolts are all still tight. Replacements are available on the Hudora website at the above link, but there is a hefty shipping charge to the UK (18 Euros for a 1 Euro bolt) so best to take the precautionary approach.

Love it!
After months of researching and trawling through reviews, I decided to go for a decent scooter, mainly to keep up with my daughter when she’s on her bike, with the possibility of using it to get to work. Ordered Friday, arrived Saturday, very impressed! It cones fully assembled, you simply have to unfold it and you’re good to go! Daughter usually hates the colour pink but she immediately wanted a go on this as it looks so good! Really impressed with the build quality, feels tough and sturdy yet doesn’t weigh much. Lovely soft grip handlebars, carry strap and nice and easy to fold. Took it to the park and had such a great time with my daughter, lots of giggling whilst trying to master how to ride! Once you get the hang of it, it’s a lovely smooth ride, way faster than walking and loads of fun! Best of all is that it will suit all the family, as there are 4 heights on the handlebars meaning my 8 year old can safely ride, then I can quickly and easily switch it up for me or my teenage son to ride! Would highly recommend this scooter, it’s sturdy and well made but it’s so smooth and lightweight to ride, I’ll be using this daily because it’s awesome!! Buy a helmet though, it’s fast!

Good scooter, good deal
It arrived in the original packaging but the packaging was very torn and damaged. The scooter came out well anyway. I was using a Micro-Classic old version so I will compare both... Pros: 1- It is much more lightweight than my old one. 2- The deck is much higher than the old one, doesn't stuck on every little bump on the pavement. I think that is very important, it was my main problem with the old one, you have to jump over or stop and walk, otherwise you end up rolling down. 3- Folding and unfolding are extremely easy. Can easily be folded with one hand even if you are carrying lots of bags. The mechanism looks sturdy, I loved it. 4- The handle can be adjusted higher than the old one, which is very comfortable for tall people like me. Also, it has more levels set in between highest and lowest so you don't have to adjust in between the pre-arranged holes, which is safer on the go. 5- The carrying handle is very handy. 6- The brakes work better than the old one (the old one has new brakes) 7- It is bigger, easier to ride with both feet Cons: 1- Since the deck is higher, it is more tiring scooting on long distances. 2- The material looks less sturdy, but it is early to say so since I am using it only for a week. Maybe the tinkling sound of the hook of carrying handle gives that impression :) 3- It is bigger, harder to carry. Overall I am very happy with the product. I believe it is a good deal.

Very Poorly constructed
I was very disappointed with this scooter. Initial impressions when I took it out the box was that it was excellent. However, as soon as my daughter took her first ride on it, I was shocked at the amount of rattling noises it made - to the point where it was embarrissing. Sounded like someone dragging along a tolley full of trash metal. I promptly took to investigating why it was rattling so badly, only to find there were approximately 6 different parts contributing to the awful racket. I'm a mechanical engineer, so it's not outwith my skillset to fix these kind of things. I soon discovered the majority (in fact all) of the causes were simply poor design and construction. I either had to remove parts completely or tape them up, to get them to stop rattling. Examples were : The handle grips - these rattle around in the handle bar housing. The mechanism which allows the scooter to fold and lock - there was way too much play in this, causing it to rattle like mad. The rear foot brake was probably the worst offender and rattled against the footplate horribly. The carrry strap - I had to remove this as the bracket securing it, rattled. The list goes on....virtually every piece of the scooter, rattled in some form. I felt so sorry for my daughter having to ride on this embarrisment, that I've bought her a different scooter. This one is on it's way to the recycle center. Apawling really, considering the cost of it.
