how noisy is this harddrive if it needs to be on 24/7?

I don’t know what the others are on about I have 3 of these and all next to one another and it’s absolute rubbish that they make “so much noise”, in fact they are quite the opposite. Yes you get the typical “spinning” noise when the hard drive is in use but nothing too disturbing like the sound of pots and pans being bashed about. Literally some people over exaggerate noise like wth I mean you must have one dodgy hard drive the way you make it out to be when all 3 of mine are quieter than a sleeping hamster. Hope that helps solve your question.

Can this be used on both PC and Mac?

I would recommend exFAT over FAT32 or NTFS; while NTFS can be written to on OS X it has never been well supported, and FAT32 has significant limitations. Even ExFAT isn't ideal, but it can handle bigger files, copy more efficiently and is supported on Mac, Linux and Windows as standard. You can format drives as ExFat in OS X's Disk Utility.

Does it work for Mac laptop owners?

Out of the box it won't but if u format it will read.How to Erase an internal or external drive that is 500 GB or larger and has already been setup with NTFSOpen the Disk Utility.Select the drive.Click Partition.Under Volume Scheme, choose 1 Partition.Choose Options.Choose Apple Partition Map.Click OK.Click Apply.Click the Partition button.The drive will Erase. When it completes, the drive will mount on the Desktop.Takes less than 30 seconds. Job done.
