The Conquest of Bread [Kropotkin, Peter] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Conquest of Bread Review: Beautiful and great quality - I recently listened to The Conquest of Bread as an audio book and really wanted a physical copy to study in depth. This version is very high quality for the low price. The cover has a lovely, almost velvety texture and the font is large enough to be comfortable for reading. This is a good introduction to Anarchist Communism. It is beautifully and intelligently written and still relevant today although it was written over 100 years ago. It filled me with a sense of hope that we can achieve a better world, that things don't have to be as they are now. Everyone should read this book! Review: Peter Kropotkin THE CONQUEST OF BREAD - 5/5 book was as described Peter Kropotkin said it best “we consult musty books a hundred years old, to know what ancient masters thought on the subject.” This works by Peter KROPOTKIN was published nearly 120 years ago. It was significantly more relevant to the brutality of the current systems in place around Europe which he had observed/experienced in his time(1842-1921). I don’t personally believe this to be relevant to western society at all. Even with my disagreement, there’s always a few kernels of truth in most works. Even KROPOTKIN was absolutely right about too many taxes and wasteful bureaucrats/middle management sucking up too many resources. Krop referenced ancient society’s and villages that utilize communism ALOT. Well to all those who love this book in the reviews we no longer live in the dark ages under feudalism or authoritarianism socialistic regimes. I understand the plight of wishing to create a better system but this isn’t agreeable or doable in today’s world. Jokes aside interesting read about half way through gets pretty stagnant an repetitive. Krop absolutely love the French revolution. He talks about it a lot… i’ll probably read something about that next. One last thing the publisher took this book from public domain and created it as cheaply as possible in order to distribute it… Capitalism is why all these commies are reading this book lol

A must for left-wing anarchists
There is some debate in the anarchist sphere as to which book is the best for an introduction to anarcho-communism. Anarchy by Malatesta and Now and After by Berkman come to mind, but Kropotkin's Conquest of Bread is still a contender. It's not the most simple to read, but it is still the most thorough and explanatory and it comes from the OG himself. If you are an anarchist or interested in anarchist thought, get this book.

Should Read
There’s plenty of other sources for you to read about the content of this book. It’s enlightening and I do believe it’s an important read for ANYBODY. The book itself had a few typos, but they did not hinder my understanding of the content. I think the $6 price tag is worth it, it’s accessible and well printed/bound that it will last for a long time in your library.

Good value
While you can find this rather old text for free on the internet, having this book in printed form is nice.

I'm Really Happy With This
I'm glad I ordered this book. It showed up in good condition and the font size is very readable. The cover looks nice and I liked the message inside that talks about how it's published basically for the sake of the people and at cost. It doesn't yield any profits and in turn makes the book a lot more accessible for people like me. I feel that this is an extremely important book and a good starting point for many to take in these ideas. I have no complaints. Thank you to whoever is self-publishing this. I would purchase this again. I will update my review if I come across any strange anomalies in the text (things like upside down letters, missing words/sentences, that kind of thing). 5 stars

"Well-being for all is not a dream"
Written 130 years ago but still relevant. I've had trouble finding a good english translation, and this is a good one. Anyone interested in anarchism, anarcho-communism, or anyone who is tired of working their lives away and still having little to no security or comforts, being exhausted from working so much but getting so little for it while CEOs enjoy the fruits of your labor...anyone feeling fed up and hopeless and uncertain with the path the world is taking right now...this book is for you.

Really nice print copy
This is a really nice legit copy of the book. I figure if you are reading this you already kind of know what the book is about and all that. I just want to say this print to order copy of the book is really nice and legit. Something like you would find from Verso books I have written by Che Guevara and Bernie Sanders. The type that folds at the front cover and not at the spine. High quality and of course an important text to read during these times we are going through. My copy says it was printed on the 3rd of April and it's the 7th now and I have the book it's awesome! Thanks!

All things are for all men, since all men have need of them, since all men have worked in the measure of their strength to produce them, and since it is not possible to evaluate every one's part in the production of the world's wealth.

This collection of Peter Kropotkins work is independently published by Jonathan-David Jackson as he seeks no profit but to reinvest into creating more copies for us avid readers and bibliophiles. I am amazed at the quality of these books and the content written therein by Kropotkin is remarkable. Well written and well made. Thank you!
