Hinari 'The Genie' - exactly!
Well done to the manufacturer and to the seller of this product! Breakfast will never be the same again! For many months I struggled to endure a healthy bowl of porridge oats every morning, understanding the oats were reputedly 'good for me'. The only problem was however much I tried to stir the frequently insoluble lumps into the milk the more I couldn't help thinking (as I stared into the abyss of 'unwelcome goo' that occasionally gave a resounding 'sploip'!) that this reminded me of something from a swamp, something from a land that time forgot! Not exactly like the adverts on the telly and pretty off-putting first thing in the morning. You can imagine my disheartened approach to the breakfast table . . . This was until I bought my Hinari 'Genie' blender, after which thankfully my breakfast scenario changed forever. The reasons being that now I can stir my porridge into the lukewarm milk in the saucepan, add some organic oatbran, transfer the whole lot to my 'Genie' and with just three short bursts of blending everything has worked wonderfully and there isn't a sign of any lumps or bumps at all. After transferring everything back to the saucepan, replacing on the hob and bringing to the boil (stirring 'gently' all the time) breakfast is ready to be served. To serve this I pour the now 'beautifully smooth' porridge into a breakfast bowl, sprinkle some further oatbran on the top and finish the ensemble with a drizzle of delicious honey. . . I have never tasted such delicious porridge in my life! This little 'Genie' with it's no-fuss approach to smaller food preparations is an absolute must - not only for breakfast but suppers are lovely too . . . Other smashing recipes include delicious smoothies and beautifully scrambled eggs, all prepared in just seconds. This product brings such advantages in food preparation that the quality of mealtimes and occasional treats during the day has improved no end. I've enjoyed my 'Genie' every day since it arrived and would be pleased to recommend it to anyone considering purchasing a blender for a single person or perhaps a couple. I don't think it would be ideal for a large family but if you're on your own and would like to spoil yourself you could always try the above recipe - go on, treat yourself . . . 'breakfast will never be the same again!' Thank you to Hinari, the Seller and to Amazon.

An ideal first buy for this kind of product
I bought this because I've seen the TV ads for the magic bullet but couldn't justify the cost for something I wasn't sure I'd use, so was delighted to see this budget version. For the price I paid (ยฃ20) I have to say, I'm really pleased with it. Yes, it is cheap plastic; yes the motor is noisy and gives off a faint burning smell if used for too long gone (so I suspect it will burn out fairly easily if you arenโt careful); yes the session are a bit fragile; and yes, the juicer attachment is really hard to use and messy. BUT it does the job, has a lot of attachments, takes up minute amounts of counter space and is a good first buy if you want to try one of these gadgets without taking out a second mortgage. I use mine all the time so I'm getting good value for the money I paid. Oh, and if like me, you laugh hysterically when you see that one of the included recipes is for scrambled eggs (!) I suggest you try it. I did (just for a laugh) and it makes the best screamed eggs ever - because the high speed blender makes them so light and fluffy.

good blender, juicer not good
Great blender, I have made some great smoothies using a combination of fruits and vegetables. The extra beakers and screw top lids are useful to keep juices and smoothies in the fridge and the coloured beaker tops are great for covering the screw tops when drinking. The Genie is quite noisy in use and does tend to move around the worktop, so you really do need to keep your hands on the blender. The motor is strong, I have been using mine now for about 6 months and it is still working well. Some reviewers have noticed the rubber seals breaking up but I have had no problems, the original seal is still in good condition and I have had no leaks. Both of the blades work well, however I have found that nuts do not grind very well, I was left with a stodge, the blade is not sharp enough to cope with oily nuts. The filter in the juicer jug is a fine mesh but is not very good at separating the juice from the mulch, so instead of a nice smooth juice drink I get a wet mulch. If you need a juicer do not buy this, get a proper juicer instead. I do recommend this juicer for making smoothies or milk shakes and for this it is good value for money. I have ground coffee beans but, again, this is not as good as a purpose built coffee grinder, it did take a long time to grind the coffee and the texture of the ground coffee was not consistent. In summary. This is a good, inexpensive machine for making smoothies, milkshakes, or blending soups and baby foods but not so good for juicing.

Average
I am a university student who mainly bought this blender for making smoothies. I chose to buy this product due to the low cost of the product. I think the quality of the product matches the price. I wouldn't buy it expecting a high quality blender. I mainly blend frozen ingredients and the blender does cope but takes a bit of time and sometimes it doesnt blend quite properly (little lumps) and the machine is quite loud. but overall I am happy with it, does the job.

Mini Magic Bullet
Like many of the previous reviewers I had seen the Magic Bullet advertised in the USA and was keen to find something similar over here. This was less than half the price of the Magic Bullet and while it may not have the numerous attachments supplied with the Magic Bullet, for me it is a worthwhile substitute. So far I have used it for mixing smoothies which were a big success with my husband who has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and needs to increase his daily consumption of fruit and veg. I also tried making some breadcrumbs from a couple of slices of stale bread and again it worked a treat. I popped them into the freezer in a zippo bag. I wouldn't have bothered taking my full size processor out of the box just for that, but it only took a minute with the Genie. The recipe book is fairly basic but I did try the tomato soup with some left over tomatoes and it served us well enough as a quick snack lunch. I see the recipe book basically as a stepping stone to experimenting with the blender. Although I've only had the blender for a couple of weeks I am happy enough with it's versatility and performance. I'm confident that it is something I will use often and not add to the box of gadgets hiding in the back of the kitchen cupboard, all of which seemed like a 'can't live without' at the time of purchase but don't get used mainly because the washing up afterwards takes longer than the job they were bought to replace. Not in this case though, so if you're in any doubt about the usefulness of this little blender, put your mind at rest and buy one!

Most versatile little gadget ever
When I bought this a few years ago I was a little wary, being so inexpensive I thought the quality would probably not be great. But at such a cheap price it would be worth a shot. This is never off my kitchen worktop, the chopping and grinding blades are perfect for all kind of jobs and the cups it comes with are just the right size for making sauces, choping up herbs and garlic for cooking. Whole spices and nuts are ground to a fine grain, not powder, but good enough for most purposes. I also use this for smoothies and mixing up protein shakes which taste much better (really nice and smooth and creamy) than using one of those hand shakers. I have two negative points about this fantastic little tool, half a star off for each. Firstly there are too many accessories that come with it, I have no need for all the cups, blender, juicer, lids etc, so they take up space at the back of my cupboards. Secondly I can't find any replacement seals and having used all the original spares one of my attachments is now sitting in-used until I can. Over all though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone, any size kitchen, any level of cooking skill.

NOT a Magic Bullet. BEWARE LOW QUALITY - Please read this review before buying
I've lived in 3 different countries over the past several years. I got my first Magic Bullet a few years ago a LOVED it so as soon as i moved to a different country I got another only it was so expensive there, I got a different brand which was equal in its quality. Loved it as much. Now i have moved to England so I thought i would try this Hinari as the reviews were very positive. WRONG DECISION. I'm stuck with it now as my 30 days are up. I have it only 6 weeks and have used it about 25-30 times probably, but always with liquid, nothing hard. The mixing blade was great and I thought it was as good as Magic Bullet at first and was going to write a very positive review originally. The other day I tried the chopping blade with cashews and yoghurt and all I heard was a bunch of horrible grinding noises and then the blade stopped. Under the blades are hard rubber notches that fit with plastic notches on the machine to spin the blade. The plastic machine notches had completely eradicated the rubber blade notches! They were powdered! And this was the blades FIRST use! I then took the mixing blade that has given NO problems to finish the job of grinding the cashews and though it worked, it also began to grind away the rubber, so clearly this machine is only good with liquids and soft material. Now my mixing blade is not working as well to blend my smoothies. I called the company as Amazon suggested and they informed me that the blades are not covered under the warranty! How convenient--it does NOT state in the warranty that only the machine is guaranteed! Sad. The blades each cost 7.20 from Hinari, and I'm afraid the same thing will happen again. At 14.40 to buy both new blades, I might as well have paid that extra to get a machine of higher quality. Very disappointed in this machine and wish I would have spend the money for a REAL MAGIC BULLET.
