Best coffee from a filter dripper I have had, easy pour, easy clean.
We are in the process of setting up a new home and wanted to find an alternative to a large and expensive coffee machine. I knew of the individual cup filter dripper option so we decided to give this Hario V60 (size 2) japanese product a go. I didn't know about this particular brand but the product stood out in the Amazon listing and it came with a matching design (red colour) measuring cup. For the price, it already seemed a good deal. I don't know how to explain it, but using it feels like the filter dripper has decades of thought, design and quality control gone into it. With all the challenges we are facing, it is a pleasure to take a break and use this product because it feels like it has been made with so much caring thought. The dripper sat sturdy on a wide mug. No adjusting needed. I even wondered how much difference the ceramic dripper would make. The plastic one has a heavy feel. The size 2 paper filter fitted the dripper like a glove in a millisecond. It stood against the sides without needing any adjusting. In seconds, I had a creamy looking filter coffee that tasted delicious. The water pour kind of vortexed quickly into the cup without lumping the coffee into "unused coffee islands". The resulting coffee was clear and very strong (just half of the measuring cup for 2 medium mugs). This was the strongest I have ever had with the same coffee brand and filtered, boiled water. Brand new coffee bag. It was very easy to clean and feels like it won't easily scratch or stain at all. I washed it with the soft sponge side but might just use a water rinse in future. Not sure it needs dish soap. The only "challenge" was getting the coffee into the measuring cup, but we have somewhere a glass, sealed lid container with a wide opening to scoop the coffee from, which will be perfect for it. For the price, it is a bargain in my experience: it saves space, makes filter coffee as easy to prepare as instant but a lot more flavoursome and with the true oumph we look for in our daily brew-break. Its quality brings comfort and positivity. It makes you want to care about making the most and the best of the day. Lovely product.

Best quality filter coffee on the move
Background: I am a coffee fanatic. I am one of those rare people who think Costa and Starbuck Coffee is muck and would rather have a cup at home. I drink filter coffee only and STRONG. I grind my own beans for every cup. If I go away from home overnight, I get the sweats about what horror coffee I'll get served. Most of the time I pack up my filter machine (10 Cup), grinder and some beans, it just saves me making excuses why I don't want a cup of instant or cafatiere (yuck). My wife thinks its ridiculous to cart around all this kit so I looked into alternatives. I have owned a Swiss Gold Filter in the past and its junk and the coffee tastes like a cafatiere coffee. This filter and paper combination seems to be the gold standard in portable one cup filters. I was truly impressed, I have been away for work in a hotel for a week now, and I have a good cup of coffee to hand all the time. The water flows really well throughout the paper - the fluting really does work!! I have the small version, which is just fine. I think the larger would be too big. Remember you have to pour the water slowly, its not a fill up and leave it. So, the large size doesn't really matter. Its priced very keenly and very well made!

Simple and high quality
The Hario is the classic pour over drip filter. I am a huge coffee fanatic and I have a variety of coffee making methods: Moka pot, Aeropress, Clever Dropper, Nespresso machine, Espro cafetiere and I always come back to the V60. This is the method I use to make my morning coffee every day at 6am - you don't have to be a rocket scientist and it's simple enough to use when half awake. Basic operation is as simple as the elementary design. Put a filter paper in the cone, place it on top of a cup. If you want, rinse the paper with boiling water. Add in coffee, pour water over the top until you've filled the cup. Its that simple! You can complicate the method with water temperature, ratios, weighing the water and timing your pours etc. But none of this is essential. That said, once you get started you'll soon want to learn all there is about making amazing coffee and that's the beauty. How much you learn and what you do is completely up to you. This is the coffee making method of the experts, it really does make some of the best coffee. The fact it's a filter method means you get crystal clear coffee with no sediment. The pour over method gives you complete control over everything you do. I've had a clear plastic one, which cracked a bit when put in the dishwasher but the red and white ones are perfectly durable. The smallest size is fine for a single cup, the bigger ones can be used in conjunction with a jug to make brews for friends.

Works well and looks good doing it.
A decent dripper. Makes it easy to have good quality coffee straight from kettle to cup essential. Well made, well priced and it actually looks nice. Really lightweight too so a good size to take to the office etc. happy with it!

My favourite way to make coffee
Absolute bargain. I have been using an Aeropress to make coffee for the past two years, and have been very happy with it. It's still the best for travelling with, but for coffee at home this Hario is now my preferred choice. Very quick and easy to use, a doddle to clean, and remarkably the coffee just tastes that bit better than the Aeropress in my opinion (although it's close). A slow pour of water is key. Really worth buying top quality beans for this if you can. Filer papers are a bit more expensive than ones for Aeropress, but still fine, it took me around 2 months to get through a pack of 100. Again for the price of this thing it's really worth getting. Also i have had no problems with cracking or damage like some of the other reviewers have had, i have the plain white plastic one, it's very sturdy.

Very nice product, great design. Got the white plastic. Came with a matching scoop. Works as advertised. Requires a bit of patience, but that's expected with a manual pour-over. Good quality and care went into this Hario product. Made in Japan.
