Amazing product! I was introduced to this item on my travels to Joshua Tree at an air BnB! It’s a game changer for any coffee lovers. It’s almost ritualistic! Super durable in and out of the dishwasher no problem! The wood and leather binding obviously do lighter through dishwashing but that’s part of the charm! It’s used and used a lot and I wouldn’t make coffee in any other format! The slow drip style gives you time to stand still in this very busy world, I can take a moment to look out of my window on a morning and wake up without the speed we live at! Big enough for around 6 cups but I only fill it to the bevel which does 3. It doesn’t keep warm- but that’s fine as I like my coffee fresh and don’t want it sat around. The amazing smell that fills the room is incredible! I always used the branded chemex filters too! I realise it’s waste but the coffee that filter through this is far better than stainless steel as I’ve tried both! I would also recommend grinding your own beans for that truly beautiful morning experience!

I purchased a Chemex as I decided I wanted a filter coffee in addition to my daily espresso. The product arrives wrapped tightly in a box just big enough for the Chemex. It is beautifully designed, with a wooden neck collar wrapped around thick glass. I use 84g coffee and this leads to the base being filled up. It makes the cleanest tasting coffee I've ever had in my life. In under 5 minutes you go from bean to cup including grinding time. A coarser grind is best, with the first 45 seconds to allowing the beans to bloom and release all gases. I then pour water over until 3 minutes 30 seconds, when I let any remaining water to filter through. The Chemex paired with the Chemex filters produce one of the finest coffees I have ever had: smooth, crisp, strong and velvety. It allows you to taste all flavours in the roast you are using, and to experiment. I had never used one before purchasing, and whilst daunting to use at first, the process of grinding beans, and pouring over water using a Hario Gooseneck spout kettle over the grinds has become a daily ritual, and one I enjoy greatly as it allows 5 minutes of relaxation and focus, of course followed by delicious cups of brown gold. The only issue you may find it that the coffee does not stay warm for long, but I normally cover the top of the Chemex to keep temperature for longer. I definitely recommend the Chemex filters, as they work best for the product and are still good value.

I've never understood why anyone would settle for a name redolent of a concrete conglomerate to sell coffee but what do I know? Regardless of the petrochemical moniker (stand back INEOS there's a new kid in town) the coffee out of this thing is brilliantly full-bodied, smooth, all that jazz that people guff when they're trying to describe coffee. Look my palate is about as sophisticated as your average fart joke but I'll say this: my housemate is still enjoying my daily affirmations about how delicious and amazing the coffee is, and he may laugh but he agrees! There's something about the simple process of slowly pouring hot (but not boiled) water around the filter to create a rich crema and repeat until the coffee resembles a chocolate brownie. I just hold the wooden waist band and twist the chemex, which lets face is it, is just an overpriced Pyrex Beaker with a funky wooden dingdang, and keep going until aforementioned brownie composition is achieved. We've recently switched to oat milk and (I haven't visited the Algerian place on Old Compton since I bought this) the very basic supermarket-bought coffee granules taste, to my experience, significantly better than if treated on a stove-top percolator or mocha. It's literally night and day (this is where my housemate is normally shaking his head and heading into the other room, WHILST ENJOYING HIS AWESOME CUP OF JOE, the fraud) My only caveat is that I cheaped on the filters and regretted it, I'm not sure if all Milita or whatever they're called, filters are the same but the stitching is relatively weak and I gather the impact of continuous pouring of hot water onto the filters seam is somewhat greater than regular drip coffee would be. Cos, you know, it's a drip. So either check whether the filters can be used on certain types of coffee, specifically to pour onto, or just lump it and buy the chemex filters. You're already throwing caution to the wind for a lavishly priced piece of glass that could break from harsh language, what do you care?

This is a design classic that is just so lovely to use and it makes very nice, super 'clean' coffee. I really like the 8-cup size (we also have the 6-cup and this is more useful, at least for me). The only thing I wish they would improve is finding a way to seal the wood collar better since it quickly starts to look a bit rough.

Reason for purchase and experience Just buy it. Honestly, it is worth every penny. if you're into your coffee you would at some stage have heard of Chemex. It is probably the best way I enjoy my coffee, you don't need a fancy machine to enjoy coffee and probably the best coffee I make is via Chemex. Pros 1) Makes a lot of coffee 2) Most cost-effective method to make coffee 3) Looks good in the kitchen 4) Coffee tastes amazing Cons Nothing I can think of

The Chemex looks great, is easy to use, and I love the coffee that comes out of it. I bought the 3 cup version (as opposed to the 6-cup or larger version) as the intention was just that it would only be used by two people so the 3 cup should've been more than enough. This only holds true if both people like tiny cups of coffee. Ideally it should be marketed as "1 full cup of coffee or 2 small cups of coffee". Great for only one person, a bit inadequate for two people, and no way can you possibly serve three. If you've got 2 or more people using this, spend the extra couple dollars to get the 6 cup version which I regret not getting in hindsight.

I have been wanting to buy it since 2017, but didn’t. It is pricey thats why. I usually drink espresso and thought investing money on an espresso machine was smarter. And I made a decision I did not regret. But now I finally bought it. It is still pricey, but I wish bought it earlier. Let me share with you what I experienced, hoping it will help you make a call whether to spend your hard-earned money on it or not. 1. There is no “exclusive” packing. I dont know why the description says that, just a decent packet, not packed well but luckily it didn’t break. There is an ‘80 years’ logo on it maybe that is what they meant by “exclusive” packaging. Silly but Who knows! 2. It is expensive and unfortunately delicate (very), so please keep that in mind. 3. I have given only 4 stars out of 5 for ease of use. Don’t get me wrong there is no rocket science there. But it is methodically complex compared to many other methods of coffee making. But if you dont mind spending a few extra minutes it is quite easy nevertheless. 4. I am trying this ‘third wave coffee beans’ for the first time, with Chemex, but I tried it first with Hario (the inexpensive plastic one), and also with DeLonghi espresso machine( different grind size of course). It tastes the best with Chemex. They should partner with Chemex because it tasted very ordinary, if not bad with the machine. So Third Wave does very well with Chemex. 5. I spent 5000 on it. But I am not regretting, there is something about the taste of the coffee that came out of it, you can taste the subtle notes really well. And the aftertaste is divine. Trust me I always thought (never loudly) Americans have no taste for good coffee, unlike Italians. I really dislike the Starbucks’ coffee and honestly think its a sin to serve such bad coffee to humans. But this Chemex is every bit of worth its hype. And they do know good coffee. No wonder it is one of the 100 best designs in the world. Wow! I have lived in a more sophisticated part of the world where one is spoilt with coffee beans’ choices. Unfortunately, in India finding good coffee beans is a struggle. But this Chemex design should be marketed for regions like ours even more as it brings the best taste out of the coffee. I didn’t do anything fancy that they suggest (they have a leaflet, useful I would say) but will try to be more accurate next time (if time permits) and will also try brewing tea as the company suggests. But for now I am extremely happy with it. Try it if and when your budget permits, it is a marvellous investment if you start your day with coffee or drink coffee many times throughout the day. I know for sure this will be on my shelf till the day I breathe (along with my espresso machine), and no I am not exaggerating.

Produto sensacional. Recomendo. Usado juntamente com o filtro apropriado da chemex, faz um ótimo café. Não sou expert no assunto, mas é nítido que o sabor fica mais límpido, acho que retém um pouco do amargor. Bonito, prático, e fácil de limpar.
