We call this making coffee science in our house, it makes the cleanest tasting coffee you've ever had. If you're into your coffee and the flavour, this will be a game changer. At the time I bought the spirit burner one, would be great if there was an electric version (may be there is now).

A perfect set for any coffee snob. I’ve really come to enjoy brewing with the syphon method.What I didn’t like, was the fire burner that came with it. It seemed to be catering the aesthetic side of things rather than the practical. So I opted out and bought a gas burner which I have also reviewed on my profile ( like my name to check it out).The glass is top notch, withstands extreme heat. But having said that, I had knocked over the top bit by accident whilst it was stood in that plastic holder and fell on the floor and smashed ( my fault).I got fed up with having to clean, rinse and store the cloth filter in cold water in the ridge ( manufacturers recommendation to keep it clean and fresh). So I ended up buying paper filters which are so much more convenient. Although you have to buy a separate metal filter holder for that. ( can be found on o.f.f.i.c.i.a.l w.e.b s.i.t.e )Overall, I’m very pleased with this syphon and now take a ZEN like pleasure from brewing a cuppa every morning. Happy days☕️

The Hario TCA-5 makes a cracking cup of coffee. It may seem like you have to go through a lot of effort compared to using a cafetiere, but the end result is surprisingly tasty, even when using the same type of coffee bean. It is a bit of a pain to store due to it's awkward shape, but if you fancy a decent tasting coffee then it's well worth investing in.

Arrived in perfect condition and exactly as expected. First tried syphon coffee whilst living in Jaan and enjoyed the full, smooth taste. This syphon works well, is easy to control and produces smooth, full bodied coffee. Some say that using a syphon is a complicated way to make coffee. For me, the actual using of the machine is enjoyable and the result is certainly worthwhile. Thhe price offered by Gold Rush Japan represents a true bargain buy.

I was extremely excited to see this arrive and so glad i have it now. it makes delicious coffee and its a great way to share small portions of coffee. I would recommend buying methylated spirits for the lighter fluid as it burns clear without the soot ( i found out the hard way) but now it works very well. High Quality Product!!

Once you've read the instructions and prepared the glassware, making coffee in this is pure theatre.It makes a lovely full-bodied, but not overly bitter brew which is a definite cut above what you get from a cafetière.I'd recommend getting the butane burner for it, as the alcohol burner is a bit weak and fiddly.Easy to clean and care for, just make sure you have a large supply of beans nearby - you'll want to use it a lot.

I absolutely love it. The quality is just amazing. The coffee is great. Also, unlike other machines, it gives you ample of instructions about setting it up, how to use it, how to clean it etc. I am really impressed.

Hario products are absolutely top class when it comes to design and quality. This product is no exception. It may look fragile but is to just. It’s screens high quality. One thing missing (and this is me trying to find fault) is that the stand should have some form of rubber at the bottom so that it grips the surface well. With use the bottom of the stand may become smooth that it may slip. For now there are no such problems. It’s such a good talking point when you have friends over. It’s a chemistry lab for coffee. Fantastic product.

This is such a fun method for brewing coffee. There is a learning curve, but it's totally worth it. It's very impressive for brunch parties. We use methyl hydrate as the fuel and have had no issues, though we do parboil the water in the kettle so as not to keep the flame on the glass for too long.

Le café que l'on fait avec est absolument superbe, et ça ne prend pas plus de temps à faire qu'avec une cafetière italienne. Oui ça demande de l'entretien et un peu plus de nettoyage que de jeter une capsule en plastique, mais le goût du café n'a rien à voir, en plus du régal pour les yeux pendant la préparation. A combiner avec le moulin à café de Hario pour faire les choses à l'ancienne. C'est mon rituel du matin maintenant.Un conseil: utiliser de l'alcool à brûler dénaturé (principalement éthanol) et surtout pas de mélange pour lampe à brûler sous peine de noircir le verre rapidement. Autrement un petit réchaud à fondue ou un mini brûleur au butane (pour fondue également) permettra d'éviter toute trace de suie.Un mot pour le vendeur: Import Japon arrivé en moins d'une semaine après la commande, avec un petit mot sympa en français en plus. Impeccable.

It works as expected, effortlessly at first try. Consider that the size of the vessel shall not be too big to provide and sustain the right pressure+temperature condition for brewing and sustained smooth dripdown and filter design shall be adequate for a nice and smooth dripdown from top to bottom vessel (or say,purge), and Hario was designed at an optimum for this! If the chamber was too big, it would not cool properly in a short time and the dripdown would be ceased - a grim experience from another brand. The taste is really good, it could be better but it will need a bit tweaking. Will try with the paper filter as well for the next time to just give it a go.
