Excellent DI box, with a bonus feature
This is a Behringer Ultra-DI DI100 with a bit of extra, optional circuitry. Everything good that has been said about the DI100 applies to the GI100. It's reliable, built to withstand the rigours of real world use, and provides an exceptionally faithful signal for a very reasonable price. Why people will pay more for a DI box is a mystery to me. The only flaw with the unit is that fitting a battery is fiddly. As I have bad hands this is an irritation, but only a minor one because, if you're using the box in a professional environment, the chances are you have phantom power available anyway. (If you do use batteries, consider buying a box of Duracell Procells . They're much cheaper than coppertops and just as good.) The difference from the DI100 is the inclusion of Behringer's "Ultra-G" 4×12inch cabinet simulator. I don't really need it as I have a Bass V-Amp Pro for that purpose. But the difference in price is negligible, and it's always good to have some spare equipment around. The cab-sim is switchable, so it doesn't cause a problem when you just need a straight DI box. Obviously, it's not as flexible as the V-Amp. It's either on or off, that's it. But it's a very usable analogue simulation, and can be driven from the output of a power amplifier if required, rather than directly from the instrument. I defy anyone to say that's not worth three quid. One last thing: If you're tempted by the prospect of eliminating hum with the "ground lift" switch, but don't actually know what it does, I recommend you read up on the topic first.

While setting up a conference in London we found that the speakers had a very bad electrical buzzing sound that was painful to the ears and would not cease no matter what volume level. I went online and found this on a different website but price was much higher and deliver took over a week, while we needed it within a day. I purchased the product and the next day 4pm we had the product and the problem was complexly solved. Its a very sturdy design compact and very simple works perfectly. very happy with the product and the delivery time. Would recommend.

No facility for a power adaptor
Brilliant piece of kit - but a major design flaw in no barrel connector for external power battery only, yes you can leave the battery door off (and no doubt loose it) and use a9v battery connector the wrong way round and wire that into an external.power supply....you can but it's poor design that you need too...

Guitarist on a budget? Get this!
if you're a guitarist and in need of a DI boxes I would absolutely recommend this. If you're someone who is running high gain, low tuned / extra strings and is noticing issues getting a decent tone out of their amp sims / VST's or their interface is clipping, things sound a touch woolly whatever you feel is wrong, this might help. Whilst this won't touch the Radial J48 in terms of sound, I've put it side-by-side the Warm Audio active DI and aside from a couple of extra switches, you'll barely notice a difference in sound and this thing is a qarter the cost of the WA and 15% of the cost of the Radial. What makes this useful is the 200k input impedance (normal stuff is around 1megohm) this allows more of the top end of the guitars to come through and not be choked as it hits the mic preamps. The top end of the guitar just opens up. Solid build, simple construction, does what it's supposed to, don't worry about Behringer products anymore they have upped their game significantly.

Great kit
Wasn't sure what to expect as this was a gamble! But, the result was way better than expected! All members of the band (except drummer) now use this DI box! No heavy amps to lug around for gigs any more! Less time to set up too somehow! Great sound, easy to use and a fraction of the cost of an amp! Well worth getting!

Cheap DI with convincing speaker sim
This is great for putting a guitar amp through a PA system in a pinch if your microphone breaks/gets lost etc. The speaker sim is a bit fizzy, but this can be easily solved with some low pass filtering, so for the price I cannot complain. I would never use this as a first choice piece of equipment but rather as a swiss army knife blade to be quickly pulled out when the need arises. If a mic goes out or gets broken during a gig just plug this in and you are back in the game.

Good for the its price and features
🎸 Product Review: Budget-Friendly DI Box for Live Guitar Use The device arrived surprisingly fast—next-day delivery, which was a pleasant surprise. I tested it in my studio and found it well-suited for my needs. I’m using it as an extra guitar input for an older audio system (a Fender Passport) that only has one guitar port. The cabinet emulation feature works well and adds a nice touch to the sound. However, like most amps or guitar setups, the device does introduce some noise. Turning off the cabinet emulation helps reduce it, but doesn’t eliminate it entirely. Depending on your setup, this may or may not be a concern. One small drawback: I wish the DI had a 9V power connector. That said, for the price, the features are impressive. I added a battery to power it, though I’m still waiting to see how long it lasts over time. ✅ Final Thoughts Overall, I’m very happy with the device and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cost-conscious DI box for live performance. Update (1 Year Later): I’ve been using it regularly for a year now and it’s proven to be reliable and durable. Definitely a good investment for budget-minded musicians.

Nice D.I. at an unbeatable price
What do you do if you have a tube guitar amp that sounds great and you want to get that sound onto your home studio recordings? The pros use expensive microphones and a sound-proofed room in a studio, but you're probably working in a small room with no sound treatment, noisy air-conditioning, traffic sounds outside, and so on. The answer is this magic little red box. I run the speaker out from my Super Champ XD guitar amp into the Behringer DI box, then plug the guitar speaker into the DI box to provide a load for the amp. The other end of the GI-100 puts out a clean, noise-free signal into a microphone (XLR) cable that runs to my recording equipment. No expensive microphone, no worries about ambient noise or a bad-sounding room, and lovely tube-amp tone on the track (or in the P.A.). The speaker cabinet emulation in the GI-100 is a bonus, try recording both with and without it and see which you like better. There are other uses for this little box, of course. For those who don't know, electric guitars and basses need what is called a high impedance or high Z input, while most mixers and P.A.'s and recording hardware have low impedance input jacks. Plug an electric guitar or electric bass straight into a mixer for recording and you'll get a very dull, unattractive tone. Put this Behringer DI box in between, and you'll get the clean tone from your guitar on the track, ready for later re-amping or processing through your software guitar amp model. Instead of a mixer or multi-track recorder, you can also use the GI-100 to feed a P.A. system for gigs. Once again you avoid the hassles of micing your amp, and you'll get a cleaner signal into the P.A., free from ambient noise that a mic would pick up. Finally, this GI-100 can convert an unbalanced signal (such as from your electronic keyboard) to a balanced signal to feed your P.A. system. This can reduce hum and electrical interference issues. Likes: The Behringer Ultra G GI-100 does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. And it's so inexpensive that it's an absolute bargain. Dislikes: No on-off switch, so you have to pull the cables after each use (or remove the battery and power it with phantom power from the mixer). The GI-100 has no signal strength meters of any kind, so you have to guess at the signal level coming out of it. Rather than two -20 dB pads, I would have preferred one -20 dB pad and one -10 dB pad for more versatility. Summary: The Behringer Ultra G GI-100 is a very useful little tool that solves several problems in the home studio and for live performance, and does so very inexpensively. -Gnobuddy
