Zoo Med BL-10E Floating Betta Log

I was skeptical and thought this was an expensive gimmick but I was proven wrong as it’s superb! My Betta (which is a spoilt fish as he has so much enrichment in his tank) started investigating it straight away and within 15 minutes was resting in there!

Floats well betta loves to sleep in it and swim through it to play. Its really seen as a necessity for bettas.

Previously I'd purchased the Betta cave that sits on the bottom of the tank, however my little guy was unimpressed by it. That's probably because it's too deep and dark for him, without a hole on the top for him to easily come up for air. He investigated that for about three minutes and has ignored it ever since. This log is a different story. Much better suited to Betta fish, this floats near the surface with a feeding hole on that also acts as an air hole, allowing him to get air on the surface without leaving the log. Being open ended it also allows him to get a bit of respite and a break from the light in the aquarium without being pitch black. The log has been in the tank for a couple of hours and my Betta has been absolutely fascinated by it, exploring it inside and out, and now resting in it. I'll try and feed him via it going forward, but it doesn't look like he needs any encouragement to use it! I have it in my 30 litre aquarium. If you have anything smaller it may be a bit too big and take up too much space. It also floats freely. I have it at the back of the tank against one of my heaters, which stops it from floating about all over the place.

I don't normally leave reviews but as I was hesitant to buy this and it actually turned out to be brilliant I thought I'd let others know. Works a treat, floats perfectly, looks natural, and my betta loves it.

My Betta started using this as soon as I put it in the tank. He hangs about in it with his head just poking out, and likes to go around and through it a lot. I started giving him pellet food in the top of it at feeding time and now he goes there on command to wait for food. It's pretty well made. I had to chip off a few tiny sharp bits near the openings (hence not a 5-star review) but otherwise it's fine. I chipped them off with my fingernails so not a huge hassle, although I am always surprised by made-for-fish products with sharp edges!. It's a little bigger than I had thought it would be, but I have a very natural looking tank and it has blended in well with the other décor. It floats very well and looks good in the corner of the tank, although if it gets caught in water/filter flow it moves around, so you may want to be careful delicate bits don't get caught. I've positioned it so it stays still. My Betta also has a leaf hammock but never uses it so I'm glad he's taken to this.

I bought this for my betta fish he wouldn't use it at the start but now he loves it.

It arrived on time, in great shape. I wasn't sure if my betta would like it, but he loves it. Note that it can move around quite a lot in the tank if there is space above it due to the current. As long as I have the water level high enough it rests up against the lid which stops it moving, which is great. My fish loves to swim in and out of it when it is spinning, although I would be wary of leaving it loose in the water if you have much of a current running through as I would be concerned about it trapping his tail. I tied some moss to the bottom inside of the log which has worked really well, and we feed him mostly outside the log because he enjoys chasing his food, but always place the last piece in the hole at the top of the log, which he always leaves until last. The log was also useful when we added some amano shrimp to the tank as my betta was really curious about the ones that were at the top of the tank. After a little chasing (he ignores the shrimp at the bottom,) the shrimp worked out that they can climb on top of the log to escape him if they need to, and hung out there until they were more confident and had moved lower in the water. I am really fond of this product, as is by betta - definitely a worthwhile buy. Note that the size is about 3 or 4 inches cubed (about 8-10 cm cubed) and not as large as in the description.

Der schwimmende Betta Log sieht super aus, ist gut verarbeitet und lässt sich einfach im Aquarium platzieren. Unser Fisch zieht erst in den nächsten Wochen ein, aber der erste Eindruck ist durchweg positiv. Freuen uns schon auf seine Reaktion

Good just as aspected

J’ai acheté les 2 (celui qui flotte et celui qui reste au fond). Déjà je pense qu’ils ne blesseront pas mon betta. Celui dont on parle ici, celui qui flotte, a été adopté très vite par Bubulle ! Il est de naturel curieux déjà (même s’il est arrivé dans la famille il y a 4 jours). A peine posé il a fait des tours dedans et autour. Ça fait 24h et il y va de plus en plus. Il chill dedans ou il fait juste que passer. Je lui ai donné à manger dedans aujourd’hui et ça a eu l’air de lui plaire. Du coup comme c’est un estomac sur nageoires il allait dedans en me regardant après pour en avoir encore xD Je conseille c’est vraiment top et pas trop gros pour mon aquarium de 17l. Top ! (Sur les photos il lui manque des écailles sur le côté de la tête, c’est parce que ce foufou s’est frotté sur l’ancienne déco... c’est pour ça que je fais très attention à la moindre rugosité maintenant).

It looks so good floating in the tank. Doesn't look fake at all. My betta loves it and so does my amano shrimps. Really recommend it if you have bettas.
